I have a Range AFM device plugged into my 2016 Z06.
Pulled it out of storage, plugged the device back.
I am now getting a "Something is plugged into the OBD port and we can't do an accurate vehicle dignosis, please remove the device and try again" message.
Has anyone else seen anything like this? The unit is less than 1 1/2 years old.
I kinda thought these things didn't leave a make on the electronics. Now it seems to be doing just that.
Or am I wrong?

Yes, I'll get that message in the Chevy app on my phone (since the recent update). It will still report things like tire pressure and mileage and oil life remaining - but that error keeps it from running any further diagnostics (I'm not sure what other diagnostics are trying to run on the new app). However, it doesn't seem to stop OnStar from running its monthly diagnostics and submitting a report. I get those without issue every month and I never unplug my Range+. Those monthly diagnostics are only taken when the vehicle is running so maybe it's only an issue when the car is off.

If I remember later today when I'm out I'll try to run the app when the car is turned on and see what happens.

edit: Ok, so I did some checks. I ran the app with the car running and it still gave that message about an attached device causing issues with diagnostics. So, I unplugged the Range. Still got the message after multiple starts. I also noticed that the tire pressure isn't accurate. It was telling me I was about 26 psi on all four. It's colder this week and the last time I adjusted pressure it was about 20 degrees warmer ambient. So, I filled the tires and checked with a gauge. All 4 are now at 30psi. The cars "info" display shows 30 and my pressure gauge shows 30. The app refuses to show anything but 28. It was never off like this before - it used to show what the car showed. I also never had any error messages with the old app - just this new one seems to be a bit buggy. Anyhow, the only reason I renewed was to have remote access with my phone. I left my keys in my gym bag a few weeks ago and the car wouldn't recognize that the keys were in the car and wouldn't open the doors... now that I think of it, I should probably check that functionality. lol

SO... I guess my question is this? Where are we with these devices?
My vehicle is just about to exit it's warranty period but I am still not happy with this message.
The app message said to unplug the device and retry... I did that (just like you) and still have the message.
I am not noticing anything goofy with the tire pressure. I will check.
Is this something that will require the device being removed for several days in order for the system to clear itself?
Is this GM's way of snooping to avoid warranty coverage?

I don't think so - my last full status report from OnStar on 3/22/21 was clean with no warnings and I had the Range plugged in.

edit: Oh, checked just now and tire pressure finally updated to reflect the 30/30/30/30 I set last night... only took 12 hours. lol

I think it's just the new app being buggy. I think the update for the phone app was pretty recent IIRC. It was never a great app compared to the competition with it's responsiveness or appearance. They kind of fixed some of it to look better with the last update but it is certainly acting funky for me. I did test the remote unlock and other remote functions - those work fine.
