This is great!!!. Thanks for posting it OP.

There is still air on the system. I will try again with the car lifted when I change the front brake pads.

I used HP tuners to run the pump. I tried manual procedure last time, lifting the car and the hand vacuum pump. I couldn't get much air out spending so much time. Now, this is easy, 30 minutes including connecting everything and works great.

Of course, you saw a picture of it. Looks just like Altjar's.

actually theres a couple hundred degassers for sale on ebay using this manual method. the cooler bleeder is a more automated setup running high and low vacuum automatically.

What is the best way to bleed the system without using the Cooler Bleeder? I would like to bleed the system, but really do not feel like spending the money for the Cooler Bleeder.

Thanks

Best option: Find someone near you who has a Cooler Bleeder and will do it for you, or purchase one and find some friends to rent it to.

I went down this road years ago, you can find some of my old posts of methods I tried and developed, eventually to develop The Cooler Bleeder. Here are a few of the trials, LOL! https://www.coolerbleeder.com/about-...tor-prototypes

Something like originally shown in this thread will work better than many other methods, but it still wont be a perfect bleed. While the automation of The Cooler Bleeder is a nice feature for ease of use, its also what makes it more effective than anything else. By choreographing the CAC pump and vacuum apply and release on the system, you get a surge or pressure wave move through the lines. This is what pushes out the stubborn air pockets. Just putting a electric vacuum pump on the system and trying to manually operate the CAC pump will not produce the same quality of bleed.

Finding someone with a cooler bleeder is the best option, I'm sure you can find other ways to bleed the system but nowhere near as efficient as the cooler bleeder. In a half hour with basically no work you can have your system completely bled with the cooler bleeder.

I'm interested in bleeding a few systems bled by other methods to see if the cooler bleeder pulled more air out of the system like what happened with my car.

BTW there is nothing fancy going on in the cooler bleeder there is no pulsing the solenoid or anything it just opens and closes with a basic timing circuit. So Jared figured out the optimal low vacuum and when to switch between high and low and activate the ic pump. The manual method I was using should have worked but I probably didn't cycle it enough times and probably wasn't consistent with opening and closing the valve and turning the ic pump on and off. So the homemade version above will probably work the same but the level of involvement will be much higher and it will take longer.

I'm in the south Chicago suburbs if anyone wants to bleed there system. Im near straight line performance so if your heading to there shop stop by mine for a cooler bleed lol.
