I'm fairly new to the Corvette world ....... I love the comradery. I flash my lights & give a big wave. I have noticed the "C8 shun". I blew it off as my imagination making something out of nothing. Even Mustangs acknowledge the presence of the Z ......... C8, Not so much.
For me I will continue to smile and wave !!! **** ...... I'm driving a C7Z its the American Dream !!! Who wouldn't smile.
I wave to them all. It makes me feel good and usually they reciprocate. If not, I try not to assign intent. Maybe they didn't see me, are having a bad day, whatever... Anyway, if I'm out in mine, it's always a good day. 👍

same here. I suspect some of the non wavers didn’t see me.
I think most of the problem lies in the fact that the older generations failed to instill their love of their cars in the next generation. The problem of the old man car syndrome, corvettes in particular are old man cars. Chevy has done the brand some justice by trying to reach out to younger people, but circumstances of economy mean that they are out of reach of people until they become old men and by that point, every other brand has had more than enough opportunity to target them since the day they were born.
I grew up on camaros, firebirds and corvettes with my dad owning the camaro and firebirds while my aunt had the corvette. Even growing up, to me the vette was kinda out of reach but the camaro was my goal. It was later in life that a passing question to my insurance broker on corvette insurance cost shocked me that insuring a vette was just a few dollars more. I was well aware of maintenance costs like the corvette tax but also how camaro had most of the go fast parts a vette had so making the jump was pretty easy.
Today I am raising my son to be a fan, he's got die cast corvettes, power wheel corvettes and hats and takes rides with me. He pretends he works on his c7 with his own tools and copies everything I do on his own car.
It's the factories job to make a good product, but there is a large element that belongs to the enthusiast to set the sterotype of that product. A good community makes the product more enjoyable and approachable. From a different hobbies perspective Wooden Chris Craft boats are just about an extinct hobby. The people who are interested are far and few between largely due to less than approachable community who in my experience dont always share information out of the kindness of their hearts the way car enthusiasts do. They then wonder why there are more boats available then buyers and just like that the hobby is dead
History kinda repeats itself for the generations I paid attention to. C5 to C6, C5 owners kinda shunned them, then C6 to C7 same deal and now C7 to C8. It's nothing new, just a bunch of older folks not liking change much.
Ever since I had a C6, I always waved to all Corvettes new and old and still wave to all corvettes while in my C7 Z06. Even my son gets a bit excited when he spots a corvette, he waves and he's 2. I even got my wife to wave during our trip to Bowling Green.
Elk , I don't hate the C8s, cars are changing as I'm typing right now , it's all about the attitude of the person ,that's what I'm talking about! I personally don't care if you wave or not , it's not gonna ruin my day either way! For that old man car thing ,all I 've gotta say is if you live long enough you're gonna be their ,time goes by pretty fast, then you'll understand, just like what was told too me way back when . Just remember the more things changes the more they remain the same , that goes for just about everything . Five yrs. from now the C8 will be old and something else will take it's place and this conversation will start all over again, it'll just be a different format. I'm sorry I even brought up the subject , it seems to have touch a nerve with some people, JMO and it seems everybody on the forum has one , good ,bad or indifferent .

they probably wanted to text you a digital wave but didnt have your number.....
I use to thumbup/wave on my motorcycles when i could safely do it, usually got a solid response back % wise
In my vette now I have done the same i think im 2 out of 4, buts its possible they didnt see me since it was opposite traffic and further away.
I try to wave at all Corvettes. I've found myself "overlooking" the C8 on several occasions. Not intentional. I just have to acclimate to the new body style.

No need to feel sorry. It is a perfectly reasonable subject.
There are plenty of drivers of all vintages of Corvettes who do not wave, as well as plenty who are simply obnoxious arrogant people.
It has always been that the drivers of older Corvettes more commonly wave, drivers of the new models have always been less inclined. This is likely a combination of experience and owners of old cars tend to be more dedicated to their car. Owners of newer cars can be as serious, but typically are not. Buying and owning a new C7 is a lot different from owning a '66.
I am saddened there are so many who go out of their way every chance they get to trash talk the C8 - it's ugly, it' not a real Corvette, it's just wrong, it's not a Corvette if unavailable with a manual, etc. This is not in the spirit of The Wave.

I find its quite the opposite here, no trash talking of the C8 but the C8 guys are typically either: younger or first time corvette owners so coming from an already uppity area where I live it creates C8 owners who think all other corvettes are inferior and they could care less about acknowledging other corvette owners. That said, there still are a fair amount of C8 owners here who have owned multiple corvettes during their lives and they will all do the wave.
Feel it is just a changing of the times, the young young generation just is no the same as the crowd I grew up with or my fathers generation; I still enjoy talking cars with other people, seeing what they got and what they have done, seems now all younger people want to do is put each others rides down and talk about how much money they apparently make. Times are changing
SladeX is right ... its human nature to repel the new or different (as evidenced by the condition of our country today).
How about we drop this petty back & forth re: the new & the old .......... JUST WAVE !!!
That is true, I also recall the C7 hate on the C6 side. Guess it really is the devotion to the model one has that Drives the negative comments.
but anyone telling me a ‘66 is ugly can just leave that chat now.
While I recall people criticizing the looks of each new generation, I do not recall the viciousness of the current critics nor the gratuitous jumping into threads for the sole purpose of expressing hatred of the new car.
Interesting topic... got me thinking. When I had a 2000 Harley Davidson F-150, I was surprised that I started getting waves from bikers all the time. So I just got used to being "in the club" and waved at motorcycles all the time, and about 90-95% would wave back.
Then I had a 2013 Shelby GT500, and I was surprised by the lack of waves I would get back from other Shelby/Mustang owners (maybe 10%, if that). [Insert gratuitous idiot-Mustang-owner comments here ] The only ones who would wave back were the occasional 1st gen Mustang ('65-'73) owners, who tended to be on the older side.
Now in my Z, I'd say I get a wave about 3 out of every 4 times on average. I think the percentage would be higher if I actually drove the speed limit... But just today on my way home, I passed an older dude in a C8. I waved, he clearly saw me (turned his head and looked almost straight at me), and..... nothing. So make of that what you will. Some don't know, others may not be paying attention, and still others are just plain idiots. I still wave at other Vettes regardless.

At best it is childish.
I'm with you. Personally I do not like the new corvette rendition but I keep it to myself, opinions are one thing but like you said the entering thread to just slam a car makes zero sense to me.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
