I read an article on the NCM web site about how corvette owners wave to other corvette drivers on the road . I have been doing that since I got my first vette 35 yrs. ago ,today I was right next to a C8 and waved to him and he didn't even look at me , I waved too him again at the next light, no acknowledgment what so ever, his head was in his sea bag. If this is what the new generation of people Chevrolet is marketing too, then it's over for tradition, they think their **** don't stink, but ,their farts give them away, I'm not saying all of them but , from what I've experienced so far it seem that way with some of them . Let me tell ya ,the Z06 eats C8 for lunch and I guess a new body style and different breed of people buying them theses days ,the good times are over after 68 yrs. I just think it's so sad , a corvette is a corvette whether your driving a C1, C2,C3,C4,C5,C6,C7 or a C8 don't belittle the other guy that has a vette that isn't brand new and different we're all in the same club together!!!

Yeah, some Corvette drivers wave and some don't, I always wave no matter. I think there's a lot of younger generation C8 first time Corvette owners, they may not know about "Save the Wave", hopefully they'll figure it out.
Having owned wranglers and motorcycles for years, the wave is an adopted 'tradition'. That said as the years pass and the product becomes more an more watered down by casual buyers the waves have fallen by the wayside. Don't let it bother you, flash yours and keep it moving. I noticed vette owners pass it far less than an other platform.
I don't think the wave is common knowledge anymore. I didn't know about it when I got mine. It wasn't until I read it here I found out it was a thing. I've only ever had a handful of people wave at me here in Houston, but in Galveston every single vette owner waves at you. It's pretty cool to be honest.
I kinda felt this way about C7 owners when I had my C6. TBH, unless you grew up with chevy in the family, I would imagine you didn't know about this. When I got my first corvette, I made it a point to make the trip to Bowling Green in it.

Agreed.
I'm not loyal to any manufacturer and so I had no idea when I got into the corvette family until reading the forums. I also agree its a generational thing, older owners wave all the time at me, the younger crowd and most C8 owners it is a toss up.
I think most of the problem lies in the fact that the older generations failed to instill their love of their cars in the next generation. The problem of the old man car syndrome, corvettes in particular are old man cars. Chevy has done the brand some justice by trying to reach out to younger people, but circumstances of economy mean that they are out of reach of people until they become old men and by that point, every other brand has had more than enough opportunity to target them since the day they were born.
I grew up on camaros, firebirds and corvettes with my dad owning the camaro and firebirds while my aunt had the corvette. Even growing up, to me the vette was kinda out of reach but the camaro was my goal. It was later in life that a passing question to my insurance broker on corvette insurance cost shocked me that insuring a vette was just a few dollars more. I was well aware of maintenance costs like the corvette tax but also how camaro had most of the go fast parts a vette had so making the jump was pretty easy.
Today I am raising my son to be a fan, he's got die cast corvettes, power wheel corvettes and hats and takes rides with me. He pretends he works on his c7 with his own tools and copies everything I do on his own car.
I see a fair number of 'Vettes here in Huntsville, but most of the time I have my windows up or am past them too quick to get a wave in time for them to respond. I think most newer owners don't know it's a thing, I didn't know about it until I started cruising the forum.
If I paid $90-110k for something that slow and ugly I wouldn’t wave at people either. I would be embarrassed.
Ugly is certainly a personal interpretation but fast can be verified. With the C8 posting consistent 2.8/2.9 0 to 60 mph there can’t be any dispute about it being faster than the C7s (both “normal” versions including Zs). It’s only after approximately 120-130 mph that it begins to lag the Z. I don’t plan on buying a C8 but did own a’16 & ‘19 Z. 🍻

I've been into Corvettes for quite a few years now and I think this was one of the few that don't feel/act/wave at each other like we do. I'm going to continue to wave and smile. They aren't going to ruin my day.

Some of our Z06's can 60' a little better than that.
^^^^^I'm refering to verified car magazines with sophisticated equipment measuring on plain roads without surface prep or specialty tires. I realize cosworth is a VERY good program but like the built in PDR system it can be fooled by variables such as wheelspin. DO NOT want to start an argument, was just posting to the other poster's comments.

I wave at vettes even when I'm not in my Vette. Before I retired I even waved at Vette while driving my work vehicle( It was a black and white Ford Crown Vic with flashing lights mounted on the roof )

I understand your point and completely agree.
Have a nice day.
