Instruct the service rep to inspect the new dash closely. My service rep wouldn't accept the first two that were shipped. The third one was acceptable. Otherwise, the deal you're getting from GM is pretty much par for the course on out of warranty dashes. I've never read of GM offering an accessory credit for the out of pocket expenses. So that's a plus. Although, considering that GM recognized that this is a design related issue and had the dashes re-engineered, they should feel obligated to replace all delaminating dashes on their dime.
The 2018! I planned to buy had the peeling dash. They could not fix it without replacing the dash out of warranty and no time frame for a dash so bought a 2016 instead. No dash issues with that.
So GM has offered to split the cost with me to replace the dash. That's the best I could get.
I'll probably go ahead and do it, but I'm not racing over to the dealership just yet.
It will cost me $1350 out of pocket and they'll likely have the car for 2 days.
The GM rep said if I did the repairs they'd likely give me some accessory credits for close to the amount I spend out of pocket, but I'd believe that when I see it.
Any one have any comments? Thanks!
Ron
I would take that deal.
Per post 42, if you plan to keep the car a long time - consider getting the 2LZ dash.
3LT Brownstone 2014 here. It did it - they replaced the dash under warranty and the replacement dash did the same thing
Same thing happened to my son's Z06. The third time he bought the ZL2 dash and all is good. He did have to pay for it out of his own pocket even though the car had less than 36K on it.

I have an ‘18 Z06, 3LZ. Of course it is out of initial warranty. Last Friday, while prepping for a show, I discovered my dash is also delaminating. I was shocked! It was not like that two-weeks ago when I detailed it. My car never sits out in the sun without a thick sunshade. Basically, it is a garage queen. The only day I had it out in the sun was to drive it to a wake and lunch for one of our club members the day after I detailed it. I put sunshade in as I always do but it was a very hot day. When I removed the shade I remarked to my husband how much heat it blocked. That must have been when it happened? It must be a testament to the level of care I have given it, if this just happened? I picked it up at NCM, February 27, 2018. So, I have had it three-years, eight-months.
Did you start your process directly with GM or through a dealership? I have never taken it to a dealership.

Both, sort of. The dealership contacted GM about warranty coverage and when it was denied they stopped. I contacted a GM rep and really got the ball rolling. My dash is back ordered so still waiting for it to come in. Who knows when that may be..
Thank you for responding. I could not get an appointment to “inspect” dash until Nov. 17th when service manager gets back from vacation. I will contact GM. I think I already have a contact name there from an earlier issue when I ordered my car.

Took my car to Victory Layne Chevrolet in Fort Myers this morning. I am officially in the system. Had this appointment for two-weeks and two-days due to insistence of Service Manager, Wayne. He was on going on vacation and wanted me to wait until he returned. After waiting for this appointment, Wayne was in a meeting. Spoke with a personable young man, Matthew. He said Wayne would have to look at the dash, and take pictures. I waited. Matthew then informed me no pictures were needed and Wayne was still in a meeting. So, why did I have to wait for 16-days if none of this was necessary? Harumpf!
Matthew insisted they have been able to replace these delaminating dashes within two-weeks. We’ll see what GM says, and how long it takes VL to get the parts.

Mine goes in tomorrow to start the dash swap.
They've done about 6 of these already & have had none return with the issue recurring with the new dash. Supposedly they are stapled and glued better now.
I had my mechanic buddy inspect the dash for damage already & he said we are good to go.
I'll post pics when I get the car back, which is supposed to be by Saturday.

Keep us posted Doc as I'm having the same issue, though not too bad (yet). Also check that price as I just got a new dash pad priced and it was $2,100 (that's with the Tension blue stitching too). That's not 50% unless Jersey is charging more labor as that is the out the door price. Still not too bad but I wanted to hear more from people that did it and how it looks now. I'm disappointed it only has a 12 month warranty. I would hate to pay to do this (I'm only getting 30%, they use a running clock from your out of warranty date} and then have it look worse 2 years from now.

Stay tuned….
Let us know what they say because GM will cover some of it and from the info I saw they better give you a number between 50% to 30% or you need to take it somewhere else. Getting that info from my dealer was very easy. I wanted to wait since it isn't that bad and won't get worse this winter (maybe in FL, ha ha) but they use a running clock. Everyday you wait that number can only go down. Also they said GM can and has stopped offering assistance on some issues (even with a Tech Service Bulletin, which this issue has).
Don't have a pic, but my 2016 3LZ is doing the same thing. 2nd owner, 1st owner was from N. Carolina I think. I purchased the car from a dealer in Florida. Car doesn't sit in the sun very much, but it is hot here in Texas. Haven't talked to local dealer yet. Maybe I should take it in and see what they say. Car has 31k miles.
