Default Brake replacement

Does anyone have any suggestions/experience for replacing non ceramic 2015 Z06 rotors and pads. OEM or an aftermarket brand? Any pitfalls to watch for?

I used DBA rotors on my C6 Z06 and was very happy (both road and some HPDE days at Spring Mountain). They were a good price and held up well. I had a set DBA 5000 two piece rotors for the front that I got for an excellent price (on sale).

Other brands of rotors like Griodisk, Wilwood, Brembo, EBC and Stop Tech get good reviews also. I had Stop Tech on my Ford F-150 truck and was happy.

For pads, I really like CarboTech brake pads. I used their 1521 pads for the street. Excellent stopping, really liked the initial bite, rotor trendily, great modulation. On the down side, some (less than OEM) brake dust and occasional low speed squeal when cold. There are other pads that have less dust (HAWK) but seem to have less excellent stopping power. Adam from CarboTech is very helpful (he is on the forum).

Also, if you are happy with the way your Corvette preforms now - going all OEM is a strong option.

My current 2017 C7 Z06 Z07 has CCB rotors, so no experience with the C7 versions of the above.

I have a had really good luck with Power Stops . I am using their pads on my Z06 , pads and rotors of my wifes 2010 GT500 . Less dust than stock and for the driving that i do , they work great .

I have been driving around with Girodisc rotors and Carbotech XP8’s for both tbe street and track for a few years and am very happy with the setup. Street manners are fine and the performance on the track is more than sufficient for my capabilities.
I recently got some XP12/10 pads for the track and 1521’s for the street to experiment with. If there isn’t a significant decrease in the amount of dust with the 1521’s I will switch back to the XP8’s.

When I was tracking my C6 Z06 (2008) - I used the CarboTech 1521's for daily driving and swapped to XP8/XP10 (I think, might have been XP10/XP12) pads.

There is a benefit with staying within the Carbotech family and swapping pads but not rotors for track days - since CarboTech uses the same base compound (just alters percentages for different levels for heat performance), there is less problem with non-compatible build-up on the rotors. That meant that I could just swap pads without having to do a lot of rotor clean-up.

After a while I did end up using different rotors for track days also. Pretty easy once the wheel is off to change pads, rotors and flush some fresh brake fluid through.

I think you will find that the Carbotech XP pads are not very pleasant for daily driving - VERY squealy and lots more dust - not a problem on the track (or my 60 minute highway drive to the track), but around town, more noise than I wanted.

Cold braking on the XP pads was not terrible.

All this experience was with C6 Vettes, but I would assume that same for the C7.

I was always very happy with Carbotech pads and DBA (or OEM) rotors. Adam Adelstein (supporting vender (he posted above)) was always very helpful with my Carbotech purchases.

When the time comes for replacing mine, I’ll be staying with the Carbotech 1521’s and OEM rotors. I don’t track my Z06 and these pads are great for fun street use with minimal dust. I’ve had zero negatives with this combo.
