Suddenly my PDR is not saving recordings unless I go into the menu and stop the recording. If I just down the car without stopping the video, no video file is saved. Not sure what is causing this. Any suggestions?

I think the owners manual states you always have to hit stop? Myself, I've always hit stop, never just shut the car off.
You either need to hit STOP recording or wait 10 min or so after turning off the ignition for the car to power down (file closes then) before removing the SD card. Otherwise, the file will not close properly. There was a lot of discussion years back and I don't recall any success recovering the .RAW file.
I have left the car shut down for several days and the file is still not showing. Also, I just deleted the remaining three files that had been on the SD card for a while and verified that they were "deleted". However, the next time I looked at the contents, those three files were displayed. Something odd is happening. I will try reformatting the SD card.
Certainly can't hurt to reformat the SD card. There may be hidden files generated by the improperly closed files that take up space. Since you can close a file by pressing STOP RECORDING the SD card is not write protected.
I wonder if this is a larger problem with how Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is / is not functioning.
Do your windows and info system stay powered for 10 minutes after engine stop?
Have to ask - how old is the battery? Maybe RAP has an issue with a weak battery?
Retained Accessory Power (RAP)
Some vehicle accessories may be
used after the ignition is turned off.
The power windows and sunroof,
if equipped, will continue to work for
up to 10 minutes or until any door is
opened.
The infotainment system will
continue to work for 10 minutes,
until the driver door is opened,
or until the ignition is turned on or
placed in ACC/ACCESSORY
What? I’ve never stopped recording and never lost a file. It’s also likely I’ve never shut off after a drive and immediately pulled the card. This has been my experience with both my ‘16 and ‘19. I never even knew that you were supposed to do this.
Now that I look at it, the manual says that the recording must be stopped and the file closed before you can review the recording. The context seems to be reviewing recordings in the car on screen. That stands to reason but that’s not the same as you must stop the recording every time you’re done driving in order to save a file. I would expect the recording to stop when I shut off the car, even if the power remains on for a bit - a cycle that I think is interrupted by opening and closing the door anyway.
