I have a 2017 Z06 with 11,000 miles on it. I noticed a vibration at 60mph and full shaking in the steering wheel at 90. I took it to the dealer (extended warranty) and they said it was the front shocks and they replaced it. They are telling me that it fixed “most of it”, but ALL 4 rims have issues…. A little bit so a little vibration may still be there. I would have thought it was the rims. What is happening?
It could be that the shocks were faulty, or they may have had some help. You need to go to someone that can inspect and check the runout on your wheels. Shocks aren't the only part of the suspension that would see premature wear if the wheels are a problem. The dealer may have done this. If so, I'd ask for the numbers.
Shocks do not rock the steering wheel. That is a wheel and/or tire issue. Things to check would include:
Wheels for cracks/bends, especially if you are running OEM rims.
Tire/wheel balance.
Tire delamination or worn irregularly.
If you are running OEM's I would bet money you have a bent rim. Lift the front end and spin the wheels while carefully looking at the rim edges inside and outside. A bent wheel will have a flat spot around the edge of the rim.
