Default 2016 c7.r

Can anyone tell me the difference between a C7.R and a Z06? was the R only made in 2016?
Also, I had - was recently stolen a 2016 Z06+Z07 w/ manual.
Seems all I can find for sale (replacement 2016) are automatics. Any real problems with auto trans?

Only 500 built, just a special edition, the 2017 Z06 With Z07 was actually a better Corvette as they made many improvements.

Here is a complete list of content and unique features for the 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition:
  • Offered on coupe and convertible models with 3LZ trim
  • Available in Corvette Racing Yellow Tintcoat (new for 2016) or Black exterior colors
  • C7.R Edition graphics package
  • Z07 Performance Package with Brembo carbon ceramic brakes and Michelin PS Cup 2 tires
  • Yellow brake calipers
  • Black wheels with yellow accent strip and Corvette Racing-logo center caps
  • Visible carbon fiber ground effects package
  • New visible carbon fiber hood section
  • Grilles and vents finished in Spectra Gray Metallic
  • Jet Black leather interior with sueded microfiber accents on the instrument panel and doors
  • Sueded microfiber-trimmed Competition Sport Seat, steering wheel and shifter
  • Yellow contrast stitching throughout the interior
  • Carbon fiber interior trim package (high-gloss)
  • Corvette Racing sill plates
  • Numbered C7.R Edition interior plaque showing the build number, starting with VIN 700001
  • Special indoor car cover with C7.R graphics.

Thanks - to clarify,
C7.R was only built (500 of them) in 2016.
It looks like out of the long list of content/features, the Z07 package is the only performance enhancement. (My stolen 2016 Z06 had 7 spd manual, the Z07 package, was yellow black interior and several others.

I am now looking to replace my stolen car, and really must have the storage space of a C7, the C8 just doesn't have the room I need.
So my thought is to go with the latest C7 Z06, being a 2019 and look for low milage and the Z07 package. I have seen a few, but none with manual. Is the auto up to the task??? of should I continue to search for a manual? Your opinion pls.

If it were me, I would miss my M7 if I switched over to an A8, but I did like the A10 in my Camaro ZL1 1LE.

As for potential problems with earlier C7 A8's shudder and torque converter (one of many threads):
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...der-issue.html
A triple flush performed early on usually mitigated the shudder and torque converter failures.

If you are OK with performing your own work you can also look for a low mileage 2015-2016 C7 Z06.

I've installed C&R Racing slanted intercooler bricks, tall supercharger lid and the needed hood insulator, NAVtool to add front camera/bluetooth/WiFi/Apple Car Play/Android Auto, DSC Sport Suspension Controller and recommended alignment, and changed all fluids including bleeding the engine and supercharger coolant in my 2015 C7 Z06 M7 with Z07 package that I bought with 5500 miles on it. It did take several months to find it, and some time and effort for the changes, but it's my favorite car currently and is a blast to drive.

If you track your car, you would need to improve the cooling systems, which you may also need to do with a 2017+.

OP to you first question, yes, the A8 is up to the task. I've owned both. I sold my 2015 Z06 M7 3 months after buying it and I ordered my 2016 Z06 A8 that I still have today. that was a $ 30K mistake when I bought the 2015 M7. You can spend many hours on this forum about M7 VS A8 transmissions.

Thanks for your input. I do not track any cars, and I do drive every day or so. In Houston traffic, maybe A8 is ok.

I am starting to think A8 might be ok.
Houston stop and go traffic does get tiring with M7.

Default Nothing wrong with A8!

I've always been a hardcore manual owner but this last one I bought a new 19 Z06 A8 and I can tell you I love it, got 25000, on it and haven't had any issues with the A8. Plus turns out it's faster than the M7. Its something awesome when you hear it too, go for it you won't regret it I haven't. Good luck!

Unfortunately the C7R package has no special performance options and it's just stickers and badges that separate it.

It's what you want. I wouldn't get an auto c7z and if I did own one I would probably be more inclined to want to upgrade to the better auto in the C8.

I would pursue the 2019 path. Keep looking for what you want. If it were me no way I'd be happy with an auto so be careful with that. Make sure the auto is what you want. Just personal preference for me. I was just out yesterday afternoon and I love rowing gears out on country roads.

Rowing the gears on a country road is big fun. Being stuck in Houston traffic with an M7, not so much fun. I try to avoid traffic if I can, but having spent most of my life in the DFW Metromess, that isn't always possible. Mine is A8. Did the triple flush, and a Range Device. I'm at 31k. So far, so good.

The C7.R package was also available (500 in the USA) in 2017. The 2017 enjoys the advantage of tilted cooling bricks in the supercharger.

I'd stick with the Z06 and M7. If you really enjoyed your last car (sorry to hear that it was stolen), stick with that. I went with an auto in my C6 and now I have the C7 Z06 M7 and loving it. But I'm also mostly on back roads and use it as a weekend car, not a daily. The C6 auto used to scare with me because you never knew what you would get when you punched it. I heard the C7 A8 is a lot better, never driven one. I know with an M7, what I'm getting everytime. I'm seeing Z06's coming on sale a lot lately, I'd wait for the perfect one, these cars aren't cheap!

I kind of made my own C 7 R. Especially since it's just mainly stickers anyway.

It's a little hard to see unless you zoom in on it below the silver stripe. This was how the C7 R race cars had it on them back when they were racing them.

My A8 has 70,000 miles with zero trans problem. I did have to replace the torque tube, but the trans is fine.

If you're not tracking it, what about the z07 package is important to you? If it's the CCBs, you could possibly find a Z06 (non z07) with the CCBs. It's option code J57. Back in 2017, they had a fairly large rebate on the J57 option, so they must have made quite a few like that since they were trying to move them out.

Why not look for a Supra Manual . One of the surprises in the Sports Car industry , Not a Z06 But will Rival most sports cars .
Bing a Corvette owner Thru the years no problem with wheels ,Run flats tires ,overheating or Tracking problems ,

I'm on my 7th Corvette now and all the previous ones have been manual trans, most of them Z06s. I went with a C7 Z06 and A8 this time. I wasn't sure I would be satisfied with an auto, but so far it has been great. I did do the flush as a preventative measure. I love the A8/C7 combo.
