Well, I picked up a 19 a few days ago, it's getting an IGLA installed in the AM so this one can't be stolen.
Had a few questions as far as modding. I plan on doing E and headers in the not-too-distant future. How far can I go on this ZR1 pump as far as wheel hp and e content? Is it worth getting a larger TB also, 103? What is the best CAI for these? What gauge setup are people using to monitor e content? What is the largest tire I can fit on the rear with a 20? 19?
P3 is what im using to monitor E content. You cant use a 103 on the stock snout of the Lt4 it must be ported or an adapter must be used. All the popular CAI seem to work very well so buy the one you like the most , the bigger 5" versions will require a tune . Headers Kooks or ARH , and for Ethanol get the DSX kit or build your own but it must be added in the tune .
Yeah, I'll probably do rotofab again; does anyone know zr1 pump limits for ethanol content? This would be the first thing I do and curious what it can support without adding boost.
Yeah, it's a great car! I really need to get these cup 2s off though, tire skip is crazy at full lock, and it just dives in any cracks in the road. I really wish they made a 345 555R2 for a 20" rim. Those tires hooked on my 650ish wheel zl1 and I was running a 315. I kind of hate that my only performance/street option in a 345 is a r888. I've had them and I am not a fan to be honest. The Nitto was a better street tire to me by every metric. (other than strictly road course use)
I've heard of the IGLA before but I'm not up to speed on them.
I'm curious how does the IGLA prevent the car from being towed or put on a flatbed and trucked away?
Short answer is nothing can really prevent that. The reality of how these cars are being stolen is by cloning a key with the OBD2 and driving away. A tow truck pulling up to where you are, having enough time to winch it up without causing a scene or alerting anyone is not a very realistic scenario. And even IF this were to happen, this is where compustar tilt/shock sensors come into play. I can find you and your tow truck with the GPS unit too. IGLA acts as a digital kill switch, an immobilizer. Impossible to start & drive away with the car unless you know the PIN or have an entire day to find/trace how it is wired into the car and bypass that. Professional installers deliberately make it painstakingly hard to accomplish this. This is why you can't just get this installed by anyone. This makes it Immune to OBD2/key clone attacks, locks the OBD2 port also. These guys are not sticking around for a long time to work on the car.
