Florida is trying to sneak thru a new law to take affect Jan 2026 requiring front tags.
It is an add on to a repair bill for body shops and if no one reads the entire bill they would have no idea what they are trying to sneak thru.
Running around Jacksonville yesterday, I noticed most newer cars have no mounts, so each driver must not only purchase a second tag but a factory mount as well.
It seems to me it would kill airflow on our Z's. Who out there has tags on their vettes on the front ?
.
Virginia requires front tags, so rather than modify the grill, I bought a STO-N-SHO removable tag holder. It's a nice product.
But my car is lowered all the way down on the stock bolts, so it's pretty low. Driving through town, the street I was on had a slope down, then back up, the tag holder dug into the asphalt and got pretty dinged up. If your car is lowered, the STO-N-SHO won't have a long life.
So, now I just drive around with the tag, still in the broken tag holder, in the back of the car. It's been five years and I've never been pulled over for it.
Beyond the aerodynamic effects, I just think front tags hurt the look of the car.
There's another thread on this in c7 general. Let's try to keep party bashing out of this one.
Responding to this thread, NYS requires a front plate but I usually don't run one. Be a responsible driver and your chances of being stopped for plate only are reduced. YMMV based on the general LEO position on this in your area.
I live in fla and heard the cops aren't really going to enforce it, not worried about it.

Yep. That's why I don't want the proposed amendment to go through requiring a front tag in Florida. I don't like the look of front plates on any cars, let alone low profile cars like the Corvette and even though many comment that LEOs don't enforce it in their state, it gives them a new reason to pull you over and generate revenue. At the very least, it's an add-on citation for other traffic infractions.
The proposed bill, SB 92 is also called the Lilly Glaubach Act and is being proposed by Sen. Joe Gruters (R-Sarasota). The original bill was to require auto repair shops to collect and submit crash reports before repairing cars so they could cross-check the hit-and-run database for potential matches. However, they snuck in an amendment to that bill requiring the second, front plate.
I moved from the Chicago area twenty years ago and in addition to the front plate, my windshield was loaded with other municipality and parking stickers which were effectively secondary taxes that provided no value except generating additional revenue. I like the clean look better...
In VA, it's not a primary offense anymore so they can't pull you over for it but if you get pulled over for something else, they'll pile the missing plate on top of your other charges. I haven't run one on the vette in some time.
