were exactly do you expect them to build the motor? the motor is hand assembled in the bowling green factory. that assembly shop now builds an entirely different motor. are you expecting them to stop the production change out all the tooling have all the engine vendors do the same to make parts for the this 1 engine? its just not feasible. the ins claim is most likely a 3 rd party who has no idea what parts are in stock. they simply see the issue and approve the replacement . theres a huge host of parts for the c7 that are no longer available try to get intercooler pump oem from gm. doesnt exist try to get intercooler bricks for a 2015 low lid motor doesnt exist. I feel for the o/p and his Delia but waiting indewfinatley isnt the answer. gm in all honesty could care less about any c7 owner who hasn't sold that car and bought a new c8. best thing for him to get the car back is to get the dealership to agree to an outside shop rebuilding his motor or theres a few shops around with a couple new old stock blocks and have the dealership build it up (if they even have a certified tech to do that work)
Lifter issue they found metal shavings in the oil pan. Warranty approved and paid out on Oct 22nd the dealer ordered the motor same day and here we are nearly 6 months since the initial drop off with no eta and zero communication about the motor.
Brink of Speed had the same thing happen to his A8 2015 Z06. The lifter spun and caused an engine failure. I just bought a 2019 Z06 A8 and immediately put a range device on it and am praying no issues with AFM causing lifter failure or transmission issues caused by the AFM. Build date of the car was 6-19 so it's got the new trans fluid in it.
Geez man - I really think I'm sitting on a time bomb with this thing the longer I own it. May just get out while I can. I had big plans for this car, but I am not a stage in my life where I can just dump new LME motors/trans and not have to worry about it. I am 29 and do not want to work the rest of my life. My zl1 was so much more reliable/resilient and very similar performance. I put 80k miles on that car beating the dog **** out of it and 0 issues. I'm prob ~6k deep already fixing issues on my Z06 with under 20k miles, 8 months of owning it.

I'm struggling with this very same thing myself. You roll the dice even with 2019's with 5000 miles. You see these 2019 ZR1 ZTK's with M7 going for over $200k. Guess what, they have many of the same parts as the Z06's. Repair bills can reach 5 figures if you have an engine problem and paying out of pocket. As we've seen the warranties are often a scam. You can't get parts. Make sure to have a large emergency reserve. They are all time bombs. That's reality.

Yeah, and I purposely paid a premium to get something with very low miles for peace of mind - bought a 19 with 8.5k miles on the ODO. Have been fixing things ever since. Don't get me wrong - now that it is tuned on ethanol/headers it is a totally different car and I really enjoy every time I take it out but it's like damn, the vette tax is real. What is next? 9sec just built his with quality parts and immediately blows the main seal out. Like I'm scared of going further without a "vette reserve" now and that is the entire reason I bought it.
I dont where they are made but it shows lt4 =motors available so maybe a email or call to see if it is really a motor they can get?

to be fair the issue I had with the front seal was my fault not the motor . I improperly set up the pcv system and catch can for a 750 hp build I thought was all I would get out of my mods . ended up making 957 whp way out of the duty cycle of the catch can to handle the crankcase pressure I was creating. thankfully the seal reseated itself and i now have the proper setup and looks like all is well until I break something else!!
