Do people actually believe buying then not driving a Vette makes it go up it value?

I just saw this listing for a 2009 zr1 with 22 miles on it for sale. I have to wonder why on earth did the owner not enjoy his beautiful ride. I just paid $77k for a brand new 2lz zo6 auto so I’m wondering who will pay that much for a 9 year old car? What could the prior owner possible be thinking by not driving and enjoying his beautiful ride for the last 9 years? Thoughts?

My friend says it’s like not ******** your girlfriend so the next guy gets her w less mileage LOL
The only thing that will make it appreciate fast is winning LeMans, Daytona or something like that.

I work as a Sales Manager for one of the world's largest Lexus dealers and last week a customer traded in a 2008 z06 with 12k miles on it. I gave him $31k for the car. If this customer had as much as 35k miles on it I would have still given him around $27k.
...
Another thing I can assure you of is that minor scuffs, scratches, wear on leather will NEVER affect how much money me or any other dealer will put on a car.

I have been selling cars every couple of years and have noticed this (much to my chagrin).
My cars typically have very low mileage compared to other like vehicles.
Unfortunately, it seems to make little difference on Craig's List and similar sites.
For me, mileage is extremely important when it comes to buying a used car.
Apparently, not so much for other folks.
FWIW, I don't buy anything that have been used a lot...it's mystifying.

I've sold about 7 nice low mileage cars (3 - Corvettes, 2 - WS6's, 2 - Camaro SS's) over the last 20 or so years and I sold each of them at a high retail price. However, my cars are always loaded desirable models, garage kept, low miles, one owner, typically ordered (how I get the desirable options/colors) and super, super clean... works every time if you sell yourself, and wait for those buyers wanting and willing to pay a premium for a very nice vehicle.

Now if the car has frame damage, accident history on the carfax or engine, tranny or AC problems then thats a different story. Way too many people here are **** about keeping their car in show room condition but dont realize 10 years down the road your car is worth about the same as one with more miles, scuffs, scratches and beat up leather so why not enjoy your car today.

Mods make the car! I just had to a few learn lessons on which mods to avoid. Which to do. Keeping your car clean and well maintained helps maintain your value. I am all for driving them.
Miles hurt the exotic cars pretty hard.
Having two Corvette's helps slow the miles if you DD drive them equal.

I have never understood having a nice ride that you never drive. How can I enjoy if I don't take it out on the road? It makes no sense to me to just look at it. And cars go down hill so quickly if you don't use them at least occasionally. When I bought my ZR1 it was physically a year old. The dealer had to replace the battery and also the tires because they were hopelessly flat-spotted.

Many actually do, they are in for a reality check.
Real collectibles are well known from the minute they come out
Who the hell wants to wait 30 yrs for what ifs? I look back on every old car I owned that was collectible and if they were parked and stored the whole time youd still lose your shirt they would need to be redone just due to age.
The value is in memories of good times you had in them, have never looked back of a mental image of one in the garage and say "wow glad I did that". Life is short, pics are cheap
Friend had many vettes, GNX etc all low mi queens, never saw more than 3k on the tach. Made him happy, fine.
He passed away his kid and wife sold them for pennies within 30 days nice huh?

As you indicated, thinking of a car (with a few exceptions) as an "investment" is completely laughable.

So you stumble on a 71 convertible for sale with 21,000 miles on it at a fair price, the first thing you'll brag about to your vette friends will be the low milage. Prior to that you were here bemoaning about people with low milage vettes. In short, to each his own.
