A personal question for current owners...

I'm in OC too. Don't buy from any of the idiot dealers around here. As mentioned above, contact one of the 2 or 3 top rated east coast dealers (i.e. MacMulkin, etc), and yes, courtesy delivery is a thing.

Thanks guys. I just got back from one dealer. Their Internet Specialist was nice and spent time working up my order even though they don't have any more allocations yet. On the way out I asked him about markup and he said he thought it was $5k as that was what they had on their ZL1, but was corrected by some higher-up that it was $20. To which I told them no way in hell, especially since every current owner I've talked to payed MSRP. He told me that it's supply and demand and that demand is high right now. Which it must be. So he's got my info and said he would call if/when allocation came up, understanding that he's wasting his time if he doesn't deal. So we will see if that call ever comes.
Early next week I'll be going to a less well known dealer, one that sells more run-of-the-mill Chevys. This one told me that they did have 1 allocation, and no one else on the list, so I'm first. Their sales manager that day mentioned $20k, but we will see if they really want to sell the car.
I am a sniper mentality - very, very patient, but also very picky. I want exactly the ZR1 I have spec'd or none at all. In this context, and knowing that I live in an area rife with supercar sales and lots of cash flow, how realistic is it that I can wait out the initial rush and pay MSRP later on - or will the chance to option my own ZR1 pass?
Also, I would be paying via wire transfer, not financing. Does this help or hurt me in negotiations? To be blunt I wouldn't even mind putting down a huge deposit if that meant getting a better deal. I'm an investor and I don't mind losing potential capital gain for a few months at this time in the market. Would an idea like $50k (or more) up-front motivate a dealer to drop their $total? I'm sure it would help their cash flow issues.

YES. Had it done from MacMulkin in 2016 Local dealer could not get allocation for C7.R..waited 6 weeks B4 finding out they would NEVER get the allocation. Called Mac on the phone, 9 minutes later I had an ORDER NUMBER for the exact car I wanted (except it had the additional option of the battery charger ) Between you and me, it was quite a thrill watching a car "they could not get" being off-loaded in front of their dealership and being taken inside their shop to be prepped.
Sides, you pay the delivery charge (1K) anyway, (even if you take Museum delivery), so it does not cost extra

Maroon at Woodhouse in Blair NE
I ordered mine last October. Paying MSRP with factory delivery in bowling green. $143,000 got all the good stuff. Still no word on production date yet. Woodhouse was great to work with. Handle a lot of super cars.

This MSRP+ scenario is exactly what the Harley world went thru during the 90's. The demand outstripped production. Dealers were charging MSRP and independent resellers were purchasing those bikes and immediately flipping them in the dealer's parking lots for outrageous amounts of money. I'm betting this is what many Corvette dealers are doing, trying to eliminate the instant reselling of the ZR1's.

Incidentally, I ordered my 2014 vert through MacMulkin...they called me when it was in..flew to Boston Logan...they sent a driver to pick me up at the airport and return to Nashua. Met the people involved, signed docs, got a thorough checkout on the car, and I was on the road, all in 4 hrs+-. I was so impressed with the efficiency of the operation...can't say enough.

Like normal it’s just a matter of time before these go for 20%+++ off of MSRP, Every other C7 has done it this ones no diffenret infact once all the guys with limitless money buy up thier cars it’ll be back to the normal joe to take over the sales for the ZR1 and that will be at a discount rate more inline with the C7 platforms actual real world value.

I think the issue around OC is 1) Too few allocations, so the dealers want to hoard "their precious", and 2) Too many rich kidsm so that the dealers rightly believe some fool will buy it at $20k-over even a year from now. "It only takes one". So, that is why today I did not write a check to a certain dealer, checkbook on the table. I get their point, and it's their business. But mine is going out of state...and they might end up doing the delivery anyway, lol.

I'll dance around the impoliteness of asking directly...How much are dealers getting for the "dealer price adjustment" after the haggle?
One dealer near me (Orange County CA, unfortunately in this case) mentioned they would be marking up $8-10k over sticker and another dealership's sales manager wanted to add $20k (before the salesman hurried over after he left and said don't worry about that number!). So what are people actually paying for their ZR1s?
Thanks in advance for your responses. My decisions time is approaching rapidly.

Sorry guys, I forgot to post that I found an allocation in IL for MSRP. Andy at Barker is treating me great and found a local to deliver for only $500. Thanks VERY much to you guys for all your help!
