Was I so stupid to pay sticker for a ZR1..I don't think so
As the ZR1's are slowly trickling out I am one of the many who placed an order and is waiting in limbo. I ordered mine from the dealership where I purchased about 17 cars and trucks in the past 20 years, 4 or 5 were corvettes. I was given their 3rd allocation out of 5 and I placed my order March 1. I was told that they were charging 5k over sticker but they blessed me with sticking to MSRP. I was a little miffed since I bought a lot of cars from these guys and they wouldn't budge on the price...but they gave me a good number on my 2015 Z51 trade in (which was 5k over what it was appraised at) and I thought it was quite fair and honorable since my friend got hammered on his trade on his ZR1 from one of the "Biggest" corvette dealers.
But I still don't have my car.
I decided to call one of the "Big corvette dealers" to see how things are moving along with them.
The sales guy told me that GM is catering to the "Big" volume corvette dealers and if I didn't order from them I wouldn't see my car until possibly the winter.
I decided to call my local sales guy and I told him what the guy said from the "Big" corvette dealer. I got a call back later after the sales guy spoke to the dealership owner.... He said that although the super corvette dealerships have larger allocations. This dealership is a bigger Chevrolet/Cadillac dealership who sells a lot more total volume than the "Big" Corvette boutique dealerships and that carries a lot of weight with GM so it shouldn't be to much longer before I get my car......
Who do you think is right?

Scraping the splitter.
I think you should just be happy to have an order in for MSRP for what appears by all accounts to be a pretty awesome car.
Don't worry about what you "could" have saved, or what claims other dealers make relevant to when you'll get your car. If you're paying more now than what I will a year from now, consider that's what it costs to enjoy the car for an extra year.

Waiting on our 13th and 14th Corvette, coupe and convertible, and having never paid close to sticker price for a Corvette, I hear you. I had ordered my ZR1's from a local dealership very close to my house, gave them a deposit early last summer, ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THEY SOLD ZERO Z06's in 2017, so of course that means NO ZR1's for them the first year at least. So I am kind of thankful that I found 2 dealerships with open spots so late, but if you want to play sometimes you have to pay, a little more

When the first dealership took your deposit, did they give you a workbench order number? I thought that if you got a workbench order number and saw the code SRE-Retail Sold in the Order Type that you had an actual allocation? Is that true or no?

No it was before any info was released on the ZR1, the orderworkbench was not open yet for the ZR1 on the GM system, once that opened and they did not have access I started to worry, and when I called them Dec 9th and said how many are you getting, the answer was how many what? I knew I was screwed at that point, so I have a convertible coming from upstate NY, which is fine I have a home near Lake Placid, the other from Montana, and now I have 2 real orders, but have to wait my turn.

This has been explained dozens of times....... Amazed how much misinformation is still floating around out there.

All I wanted to know was... if a large volume Corvette dealer gets GM ZR1 delivery priority over a gigantic and higher volume Chevy/Cadillac dealer? Or is it the other way around?

I may be wrong, but I don't think the OP is asking about allocations, but rather, the speed at which orders move through the system...based on dealership size. Many here know that having an allocation is different from having a consensus.
In theory, I suppose it's plausible that the distribution of consensuses may be somewhat arbitrary, which may favor a larger vette dealer over another. However, I'm guessing if this were this case, it's probably not something that's widely known or openly discussed...

IF anyone is looking for an allocation probable delivery before the end of the year please let me know. I have one I can not wait on with a great dealership.

Workbench order numbers are issued when an order is just 1100 status, so what your salesperson just told you could truly mean nothing. Conversely, what means everything is a WorkBench order number coupled with a screen print showing status 2000 or higher.
Again just an 1100 status even with a workbench order number means absolutely zero — as it is not a guarantee that the order will ever be accepted by GM. As a specific example, a dealer which sold zero Z06’s during the one year, base reference ZR1 allocation period — and thus will not get a single ZR1 during the 2019 model year running through next March, could put in one, two, three or more ZR1 order’s, get 1100 status on each, yet NEVER get a 2019 ZR1.
Suggest you go back to your salesperson asap, have him/her print you a screen print of their WorkBench Connect status screen, showing your your order number, and if it has 2000+ status, this is what you will be feeling.

From what I was explained this morning from a dealer is the only true way if you are in a 1100 status is to ask the dealer to "go into GlobalConnect, program info, products, 2019 ZR1, then allocation. They should be able to send you a picture for you to verify." From what this dealer told me, this is the only true way to see if they actually have an allocation or not.

Alternatively, one should have a dealer you totally trust — one who gives you the straight and accurate news whatever the truth is, e.g., Mike Furman@Criswell.
