Isn't that quote for the low wing ZR-1, I thought the ZTK number was under 200mph?

Default ZR1 Top speed

Actually, The ZR1's top speed is limited by the ECM and not what the car is possible of. 214 seems to be a frequently ZTK duplicated number. Also the ZTK turns the standing mile in the low to mid 190's depending on the launch and the weather.

Incorrect. The only time a speed limiter kicks in is if the ECM is notified on the GMLAN by another module that there is a "problem", otherwise there is no limiter under normal conditions and the top speed is purely a function of aero drag vs horsepower. **edit** I know what has been published but I have accidentally gone over that on the dyno with the wrong gear selected and a limiter did not kick in.

Thanks Nic. I stand corrected. There is no programmed ECM top speed limit.

I don't know what top speed is yet. I got 206 before the transmission over-heated and threw the car into limp mode even though it was still pulling good and there was real estate still available. Thats what started the dealer's (Stingray Chevrolet) Service manager overstating the problem to GM and causing them to void my drivetrain warrantee without ever sending out a rep to verify my sins. He failed to mention the car had been down there a half a dozen times for resolution of the problem. I could have lemon-lawed the car, but production had stopped by then.

So, I took the car to "GM products only" tuner / Howard Tanner at Redline Motorsports in Pompano beach where the transmission issue was resolved (cheap, quick and easy) and at the same time I had some other work and a tune done. The ZR retains it's well behaved street-able personality but is ready to go into hammer-down instant rocket mode in a heart-beat. Hopefully I will be able to get it into the next aerodynamics testing session this spring before it gets hot in Florida.

I was just visiting my parents down in Englewood for new years. Would have loved to have my zr1 with me. Already feel like it’s been covered in the garage for a year.
