There is No rational reason to not make it a PHEV. The R&D is virtually identical HEV vs PHEV. As stated above a HEV at this time would be @ 10 years too late - the NSX was designed over 10 years ago and this year is going out of production. One only need to look at the modern entries - Ferrari SF90 - to know which way to go. The performance difference is substantial. The cost difference negligible. The only advantage of an HEV vs PHEV might be marginal on certain race tracks because of the increased weight. ON the street PHEV wins hands down. And although perhaps blasphemy here, the real world mpg difference will be dramatic. However, you can still hit your Z button and hear the roar of your motor - best of both worlds. It may also help some transition to "plugging" in a car. Actually the only real concern for GM is battery production. Hopefully once they start production - in a year? - they will have the extra battery capacity.

Spotted in Scottsdale today off of Shea and Miller, definitely an E-Ray body. Slightly different camo package than the 1st one, guessing they're knocking out their hot weather testing here, it's an ideal time
