Default Finally...

It is finally getting there.

Tuning + time and effort... this is a FAST run in not great DA (1900)

On a stock clutch no less.

God I hope LPE stage 2 is close to this level or beyond.

If you had to do it all over again, which would you choose and why? ProCharger, Twin Turbo or would you choose LPE Magnuson again?

personally. I would not do TT...
1. Don't want the frunk ice water kit for intake air chilling/hassle
2. Don't want the cup holders replaced with fuel controller
3. I do LOVE the power though...
4. Basically 1 trick pony for drag race or roll racing... too hot to do long sessions as i understand from others experience

The procharger vs Magnuson is tighter race. Jury still out.
trifecta tuning closed the gap on ECU issues and piggyback needed for prochargers. But the prochsrger in all its forms to me right now is kind of hideous. I'm not a big fan of the bulk or trunk modifications.

I'd still lean LPE (or Callaway) because their set ups look factory and are built to just absolutely take a pounding, giving callaway credit here too although i know their kit isnt "out" they will take an even more conservative approach than LPE in terms of bulletproof-ness.

I say jury is out because I want to see the LPE stage 2 set up, with more aggressive boost (and likely other mods to break the 700hp glass ceiling)... the 900hp procharger running 10.1 has a fuel cell in the frunk I'd guess like the TT for the meth set up. (I may he wrong but this is my guess) I'd wager that there is a 0% chance LPE (or Callaway) go to a fuel cell type solution for the known fuel issues. No idea what their fix will be, but I'm looking forward to seeing it/buying it.

Obviously im stuck/committed now to stage 2 for LPE, but the above comments still hold true. I wanted a HTC and procharger isnt there yet last i checked, and i like to occasionally put golf clubs in the trunk...etc...

Cost side sucks for all options imo

Great assessment. There is no clear winner when considering all the pros and cons. LPE is definitely the cleanest of all the setups. I’m wondering if the procharger HTC setup will still steal half of your trunk.

Quick back of the napkin math shows me this car has to be producing 825ish horsepower to be trapping 139mph at their claimed weight of 3938lbs (with driver I assume) looking at their list of modifications, how is the stock fuel system delivering enough fuel for that power level? Maybe they left it out, but for anyone who didn't watch the video, they claim: Procharger Stage II with pulley for 14psi; Stage II tune; ProMeth Methanol System; GForce axles; Weld/Mickey Thompson drag pack; Dodson pressure controller for clutch. They claim it is running on pump 93.

What gives on the fueling here? Is the mythical '700hp' ceiling that seemed to be the consensus just a myth or did they upgrade fueling and forget to mention it? Also, if that car is indeed completely stock apart from what they listed, all you guys wanting to go fast might as well just forget about all the airflow mods (intake, throttle body, headers, cats, exhaust, etc) and save your $5000+. Clearly, the car doesn't need it.

I'm sure more will be revealed in time, but I don't see how they got to that power level on stock fueling. I can definitively say from watching the video a couple of times that the car, while appearing to wear the stock exhaust tips, certainly doesn't sound stock.

I’ve chatted with Eric from ProCharger a couple times, this is his car. He said for the additional fueling they are using water/methanol injection (You can add fueling rails to their intake). He claimed all in 30k for the procharger kit, pulley and meth kit.

And you are bang on with your math, he said about 815 WHP on their dyno.

You are spot on. It's weird that the mods you mention do nothing. Exhaust at least sounds better but the exhaust alone on mine was $4k+... TB comes with the LPE kit, but headers was extra.

I didn't do cats, and I was thinking of doing it when I go to stage 2... but to your point. Why?

Yup, save that money!

The PC system comes with an intake.
The PC doesn't care about what size your throttle body is (since its blow through, and not on the front side of the supercharger)

And factory exhaust systems these days are good to well over 1000hp. (The cats might not live long at that power level... but the rest doesn't care)

NOTE: I have made over 1,200whp through 100% factory exhaust systems...

The methanol kit is supplying the extra fuel. (A person could do port injetors and a controller as well, since PC sells an intake that has injector bungs in it... however meth kits are cheap and easy)

Any plans to do a brief overview video of the setup with the meth kit?

I've talked to Eric at Procharger. My personal C8 run a P1-x and just did an Alky control methanol system.
Before on just the kit made 610rwhp and showed signs of stock fuel system dropping pressure. Enough that I wouldn't trust it.
The alky kit can fuel 50hp to 200+ if wanted with extra fuel.

I love the idea of an 800+hp C8 but the fueling thing is a real fly in the ointment. It's not like a properly tuned turbo setup where you can have different maps for different fuel and conditions. The pulley size is the pulley size and the blower is going to produce X amount of boost at X rpm. That is kind of a limitation unfortunately and would make you beholden to running meth all the time. which would get bothersome in a street car in my opinion.

Agree.

I am eagerly awaiting a more robust OEM style solution from other shops. Which will probably have the usual "vette tax" but for the same reasons you mention, I will prefer over running a meth kit.

Not at all really. Have built 100's of vette's with methanol kits. Real ones with 100% methanol spraying and relying on that fuel amount/octane.Only sprays under a certain boost level. So, most times never being used.
93 pump would never support a stock motor at a real 800rwhp. Not enough octane.

A shop I'm going to be working with mentioned using the Peitz DCM with a methanol kit for the magnuson. They just need to get a kit to see how they can mount injectors. Using methanol injection on the 2650 is very common on the C7's and Camaro's.

Apparently they make a boost controller for the 2650. Not sure if anyone has experience with this device but it addresses this exact issue.

^^^That thing looks janky as hell. That's not a viable solution for someone like me. Like I'm going to have stupid wires running from under my dash connected to cheesy *****. Reminds me of high school.
