What might move the front engine C8 up to an earlier release date, is the declining sales of the C7 each year. The C7 is already 3.5 years old. and has already had two new models introduced(Z06 & GS).

The C4 sales declined each year and they almost caused GM to drop the Corvette all together.

^^^^ I'm telling you, guys.....listen to what Jeremy says and posts. We are lucky to have Jeremy in our C7 family-he is well connected to Corvette in many ways.

When Jeremy speaks, I believe him, and that he's relaying the most reliable current info possible without betraying his sources. Of course, it's always possible GM will change their minds at some later date, but I also believe that the current plan is for a mid-engine platform that is not Corvette-branded

Will the MY 2021 C8 have the C7 LT1 engine or increased to 500 hp? Still RWD?

Seems logical that the C8 would come in around then (2021), given the approximate length of preceding generations, current sales numbers, and especially given the previous reliability of Jeremy's information.

I seem to remember GM trademarking the MantaRay name a couple years back. I haven't validated that information, but I haven't seen it dismissed either. Maybe (and this is just speculation) the mid-engine is the MantaRay and the Stingray continues its current configuration. It is, at least, plausible.

As the c7 is still wildly popular, still in its infancy as a generation, and still competing with cars more than triple its price.

The C7 has been a win for GM. Sure seems a bit premature to retire it.

Ford had it right with the new GT.
This has lamborghini Diablo mirrors, gallardo side, Hurracan
headlights , and maybe even some Ferrari in there.
Corvette will need to come up with an original design for it to be a big wow factor and turn heads.
In short
This has been done and redone through other cars.
Good try though.

I think it's that $125K Cayman, no? I priced a regular Cayman S and tried to price it comparably to my C7 (Z51) that had a $70,500 MSRP, and it was over $80K. It wouldn't be hard to option up a Cayman S to $90K. That's ridiculous IMHO.

My comment wasn't aimed at you, it was aimed at the wild guesses and pure speculation about the C8/mid-engine we get posted here incessantly from others.

Caddie? if you had to assume pricing would double a C7 sound reasonable?

^^^ Whether the ME will be a Corvette or not, I do not know. I also do not know if it will be a Chevrolet or a Cadillac. To date, everything that has been printed about the ME branding has been speculation. What I do know for certain is this: if a ME comes out for the 2019 MY, it will not replace the front engine Corvette.
