For the C7, GM changed that, and deliberately made styling changes to move the C7 away from the traditional Corvette styling, thinking that that would improve sales in Europe and to a younger market.

Who knows if they still feel that way. Sales of the C7 overseas is dismal and sales of the C7 have been falling in the US and Canada.

I wonder how much of a shift in ages downward of those who bought new C7's?

It worked on me, the C7 is my first Vette.

Then there is the balancing act. In order to attack some new buyers, by changing the Corvette's styling direction, how many potential buyers did GM drive away from the Vette?

One could argue that this doesn't "look" like a corvette either. Most under 50 years of age probably wouldn't recognize it - things change - designs change and I am a big fan of change.....I don't want a tired design looking car - if I wanted that - I would buy a classic - gotta keep up or get left behind - i predict more vibrant colors coming as well. I like all the vetted not saying i don't - I just feel if you look at where the car came from to the c7 it is radically different and doing just fine.

A man(late 30"s/early 40's) and his wife were power washing/restaining my next door neighbor/s deck when he noticed my old Vettes in my garage. He asked if my 1956 Corvette was an old Camaro.

A new 2017 Impala doesn't look anything like the 1965 Impala I bought new, but that doesn't make the new Impala better looking than the one I had in 1965.

I meant ATTRACT not ATTACT. Didn't check my spelling before I hit "submit reply".

My point was did GM turn off more people than they turned on?

Decreasing sales might just mean they did.

Not everyone liked the C5's styling, but it's sales were strong each and every year of it's production, indicating it brought in more new buyers than it turned away, vs the previous generation. Same goes for the C6. It's sales were strong each year until the economy crashed(the C6 did not cause the economy to crash as some C7 owners believe).

C2 sales were better than the C1's. C3 sales were better than the C2's. C4's sales were better than the C3's starting out, but then the C4 sales went into the dumpster. It turned off more buyers than it attracted, after the initial attraction.

I think the C7 is seriously "overstyled" but that's merely a matter of taste, many people like the appearance.

Some things that are not just a matter of taste are the "bigger on the outside but smaller on the inside" design, poor visibility, and overly complicated electronics interface.
Those issues kept me in our C6 much longer than I expected, and if that trend continues then I might never buy a C8.

The above post is the reason I will stick with my C6. I don't want a transformer looking car & if the op picture is what the future Corvettes will look like, I am out

Hot damn. I just love those cars that are wedge shaped. They are so futuristic. PUKE.

Yet it only has a .24 Cd, the same as a Mercedes S class coupe, which is a beautiful car that I would not be embarrassed to drive.

Here are a few pictures of previous Corvette ME Prototypes. Two of these were being designed and tested when Duntov was still the chief engineer and if he said it was a Corvette it was a Corvette. The 1990 version was designed and tested when McClellan was the chief engineer. I actually was able to put my hands on the 1990 concept car and the only thing I didn't like about it was the length.

They seem to stick to the same theme of wedge shape with additional scoops and sharp body lines. Maybe some of us old school see the Corvette as an endless 60s design, changing slightly, but clearly recognizable to all generations. I understand the need for wind tunnel plus dynamics but being folded twice to enter the control room is not that pleasing to buyers that can afford the values.
You do realize that this picture is a "RENDERING". It did NOT come from GM, it is NOT the mid-engine Corvette. And BTW, if you are going to "shop the used market for one", Ferrari F40's are going for SEVEN FIGURES these days.
