A mid engine concept would hopefully bring in a younger generation. And finally GM could still make comparable profit off of a higher priced vehicle (w/a higher profit margin) with a lower sales volume. And if you can make the same amount of profit with a lower sales number you also have the resultant bonus of lower warranty claims to deal with.
Apple business model, Samsung has adopted this on their new offerings. Exclusivity of cutting edge features on top model only with increased profit margin %.

I have said this before and try to explain it and some people just don’t understand Business. Every mustang poofs his chest how they have so many sales but I bet the Camaro is significantly more profitable with it shared platform.

Yes. It was sarcasm. You basically said "I saw a weird car under a black cover" and someone was immediately calling for your head. I made a sarcastic joke about it. That joke is no longer funny, because I've had to explain it in far too much detail.

I've heard they have the capability to build prototype/pre-production cars there.

The younger generations that care more about social media, than cars? If GM is going after them, the Corvette is not going to last another generation.

GM is going to do fine, as it the next Corvette, and the one after that. Not concerned at all. The C7 brought in lots of younger buyers (and it lowered the average age of those who bought a new Corvette compared to the C6); this was part of GM’s plan in designing the C7 to look as it does.

The ME, and the Corvette after that, will also lower the average buyers’ age.

Then explain how the average age of the new Corvette buyer went from 61 years old in 2013 to 63 years old in 2017?

If anything, more old ***** bought a new C7 then the number of young ones.

I am amazed at the number of "old folks" in my area that have bought a new C7. Considering this is a retirement community, one might have expected lots of older cars yet C6's and C7's dominate the numbers.

Well, I've searched C5, C6 and C7 General for posts by you with the word "age" in them and none of your posts have a source. So, how about you humor me and post your source again?

The problem isn’t the perception of the Corvette brand, just the cost of Corvettes. Kids all across the country love Corvettes and want to own one. Many make it a goal to own one in their lifetime, as have I. However, it takes time to save up the money for a Corvette. You graduate college, but then pay off loans. Get married, then you buy a house. Have kids, but you have to buy an SUV and spend a lot of money on those kids. Then you pay for their college, first car, and so on. By the time your kids are on their own, you can finally get a Corvette. You see where I’m going with that? Not many people have the money to buy a new corvette, and even fewer chose to do so. Younger people don’t have to buy the C7 for it to be successful in making youth interested in Corvettes. It simply makes them love Corvettes, and will inspire them to own one when they have the opportunity to. Then they grow old, buy a Corvette straight off the lot, and someday it will land in the hands of a 30 year old who loves Corvettes just as much as the last owner.

The C6 Corvette is what sparked my love for cars as a whole, and the C7 is even better in my opinion. I’m excited for the mid-engine Corvette, especially knowing that it will inspire future generations of Corvette owners.

I've got a hunch we're going to be waiting a while for this....

Ole Joe hates the C7, so ANYTHING that can be considered a negative regarding the C7, sign Joe up. Seeing as how we're 2 months into 2018, I would be surprised if the demographics are already out.

First time posting on here. But, it’s interesting reading what I can only assume as growing men, try to one up each other with their arguments and “knowledge” of all these things when OP was trying to give an honest view of what he could gather from what was hidden under the cover. Kinda pathetic honestly. Typical car guys though. Nothing new.

Brand retention for corvettes is amazingly high.

I d suggest you explore the concept that once a young person buys a corvette they tend to continue to buy another corvette and then another...

So If i was 61 years old in 2013 and owned a corvette ...and then decided I wanted another car in 2017 ...bought a corvette ....I'd be 65 years old buying a corvette...

The reason the average age of corvette buyers keeps increasing isn't because once you own a corvette...you just keep buying another one throughout your lifetime...

It's not old people only that want corvette...that's a ridiculous interpretation.,,

It's just once you own a corvette...you age and you still continue to buy another corvette even as you age...that's why the average age of corvette buyers/ owners keeps rising.
