Corvette C8 Release Date - Who's thinking of getting one?

The most current exotic that I appreciate most is the Ferarri 488. That is one sick looking ride but well above my means. If the new C8 looks any bit similiar in design, I might consider placing an order. Some of the renderings look really nice. And if available in Arctic White.....it might be hard to pass up. HP must be equal to or better than current Z06/ZR1. Or at least, "faster."

Will make my decision when the car is announced. If it's too expensive or not available in a convertible, I will hang on to the C7 for a bit longer. Also anxious to see if the C7 is continued as a 2020 model and if any changes/ updates will be made.

Love my C7 with its torquey LT1 but, for me to move to the ME, I will want a new and different power plant. Placing an LT1 behind the driver is a big deal but, for the major investment, I'll be looking for the OHC motor, preferably with turbos. Variety is the spice of life and all. Vert or, at a minimum, removable targa top as well.

Have a deposit down with local dealer with promise of 1st allocation. If final price is near six figures I will have to trade the ZL1 & the C7, if closer to 80 the wife may let me keep the C7.

I may be to disappointed if rumors are correct that a manual will not be offered and price, I can afford upwards of 90K, any higher and it's out of reach......
That being said, I would love to have one.

Deposit Today
[QUOTE=CJ455;1597769195]So I just heard about the C8 spy photos and I know that the exact release date is not confirmed yet, but I was wondering who here is preparing to get one and why? [/QU
I will be putting a $1000 refundable deposit from my dealer. I have been dealing with these guys for years and I have told them if the car is not up to my expiations I want get a full refund. I will be 4th on the list.

if it looks like the rendering in the jan/feb Hagerty insurance magazine, I am definitely in.....I will buy it as a retirement gift for over 40 years of working.

You know.... if everyone on this forum who WILL NOT buy a C8 because they can't get a 3 pedal manual transmission car, actually bought a new C6 or C7 with a stick shift, GM would certainly offer one on the new C8. I noted earlier today that even AUDI was dropping manual transmissions. This is not a Corvette issue. This goes across the entire automobile spectrum. If a manual is still being offered, grab one quick because they are going the way of round tail lights and pop up head lamps.

That said, it is a numbers and money game, as always. Last tally I saw 23% of C7's were manuals. That's way above the 5% or so take rate from manufacturers that have dropped them. It is easy to walk away from 5% of your customer base. It is much harder to walk away from 1/4 of it. Note also that Porsche has reintroduced manuals after removing them due to customer demand.
If I had to guess and if there are FE and ME versions coming (not at the same time) then the ME car will be DCT only and the FE car will have the manual option.

Will be interesting to see if/when there's a convertible version.
I know many have to have the newest/best variant but if the C8 is in fact ME, nothing has been mentioned regarding a convertible option and have to think the engineering would make it "challenging" to say the least. I see keeping my rag-top Z06 for a long time...

Will not buy one, I would rather pick up one of the cheap C7's that will be out there when everyone is trying to sell theirs. I only buy used and let someone else take that hit.

I will get one for sure. My dealer has promised me the first one he can order. I’m prepared to pay something over Msrp.
Maybe lots.
Im getting his first 2019 ZL1 , have Sept 19 as build date. I’ll be modding it to 1000 hp range. The C8 will probably be my last performance car. I’ve promised my wife I won’t mod it.
