Was just responding to Zerv who seemed to be arguing the opposite. Obviously I agree with you, Monk.

Nah. This thread is now at 514 posts and I think there are 5 guys that actually believe that the base C8 is going to be $169K.
Of course, Zerv02 has been clever in that he never said the BASE was going to be $169K, everyone assumed it. He's been asked multiple times, in this thread, if he is saying the BASE car is $169K, which he has ignored. So....about 2022 or 2023 when the ZR1 or Zora or whatever they call the highest performance variant of the C8 comes out at some big crazy price, he can claim victory....obviously lame but mark my words, that's what's going to happen.

i cant believe there is 27 pages of this nonsense. BG is staffed and automated to build somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-35000 cars a year. Viper died because it became unaffordable to the masses. many households can swing 50-60k for a weekend toy, that number shrinks significantly at 100k and almost dries up completely at 150k+
If the base price of the C8 isnt in line with the base price of a C7 Corvette the platform will be dead in 4-5 years
imo the base car will be around $62k followed by a higher performance version (z06) around $90k then a wide bidy base (gs) around $75k the an all out world beater around $135k.
$170k is laughable

It is crazy to accept Zerv02's pricing of the Corvette from we have been seeing till this point. But there is a possibility of it being true only if the C8 Corvette is out for Limited Production. Nothing is confirmed but there is always a possibility.

And I was wrong anyway, Zerv02 DID say that he thinks the base car will be over $100K, the sorta HiPo will be $169K, and the HYPER hybrid will be $250K.
Now that is DOUBLING DOWN....even if I think he's wrong on all 3 counts.

Of course the "exotic halo car" crowd doesn't think about how things are going right this second and instead assume that GM cares about how a few people on the internet think the Corvette isn't actually a super car because it isn't "exotic".
GM can price the car at Zerv02's wild *** guess or $169k, but the reality is that who exactly does that aim the car towards? Porsche buyers? Yeah right, like the P-car crowd will trade in their wundercars for a GM product. People shopping for Mclaren 570S, Audi R8s, or Huracans? Once again each of those cars is tried and true exotics, while the Corvette is still a Corvette and comes with the associated baggage (poor service experience, mass production issues). Corvette owners that have to own the best Corvette no matter the cost? Who is that, Rick Hendricks and what maybe 1000 people total? That sounds like a real lucrative plan.
I have no idea how this thread has still not been locked at the least, anything that plays at being a "leak" and has literally no actual proof that the source is credible should be treated as "trolling". The mods were quick to lock the mock "manta ray" thread, but honestly this one has run its course and many people have gotten into arguments and trash talking over some bogus info. Then the mods posted this shitshow on the front page for anyone just visiting to see how toxic some in this community can be.

Um, just curious but who is going to drop $65k+ on a 6 year old model when there is a new Corvette out. In all likelihood a massive price jump would alienate the typical buyer to the point that they shop elsewhere.

I think thats way high after looking at hows things are playing out. A base 1lt I think will be around 65k ish give or take a couple grand. This new car isnt going to be a super car by any standard except for the motor has been moved.
higher optioned models should be priced like the c7s. You need to know that Mary Barra GMs ceo doesnt like gas powered cars and is pushing hardddd to go all electric asap. So within a few years all of these cars will be going bye bye.
if you think all electric cars are cool they aint. A car that doesnt feel like its running and has no sound is just plain boring and hideous. Were living in the final days of gas powered vehicles and it really sucks ***.
muscle cars are about to be a thing of the past.
gm isnt really worried about high sales volumes on vettes trust me.
its just the sign of our times.

Base ME169K : I can't wait to say I told you so on the pricing. Based off these threads GM better hurry up because we have all lost our minds. 169k for a base ME! That is 114k above the current base C7. 114k above the current C7? You could buy 3 C7 for that price. No one at GM finance or leadership would approve this project at that price point. 535 posts on this topic I am not sure why I am wasting my time. Happy hump day! this thread makes my head hurt.

These dozens of walls of words can be boiled down to the fact that only about 10% of posters believe the base will be in 6-figure territory. However, it is a very vocal 10%, and they've tended to post dozens of times in this thread. The vast majority of posters are realistic based upon marketing 101 principles.

That's really cool. When I was growing up, GM's worthless CEO had his people drive him everywhere in a limo and he used a helicopter whenever he could.
I do wish Barra had better taste. GM's interiors still lag behind Ford's and lately GM's design studio has moved some powerfully ugly vehicles into production. Like the '19 Camaro refresh, when Barra first saw it she should have raced her ZO6 over to the design studios and fired at least a dozen people.
