You are forgetting that Porsche is a “brand,” as is Chevrolet, and the 911 is Porsche’s most comparable “model” to the Corvette, with different performance variations models. In adding the ME C8, both Porsche and Chevrolet will have a number of different chassi/engine combinations. The C7 will no longer be relevant.

What's the point of keeping a thread open with false info? I can say "it's confirmed the base C8 is only going to cost $69,990 and have 500hp stock". Seriously, what's the point?

You are correct, you could say that, but what’s the point because nothing about the base price or configurations has been confirmed to anyone, including sales staff at local dealerships. For right now, it’s just a bunch of guys spinning a silly thread on a silly forum, until GM finally makes the announcement on the car and then the prices.

Agreed, but reminds me of my discussion with daughter re distracted driving and folks I see on their phones talking or even texting. I said it's probably 95% useless information. She said no dad it 99% useless!

Suggest most social media is the same, Tweets by folks with strong feels and simple solutions to something they know nothing about!

Even these "useless" Threads versus those that solve real problems are entertaining and there is an occasional spark of wisdom.

Jerry, you have an intelligent daughter.

Definitely entertaining or we wouldn’t be on here. Hopefully the wisdom prevails.

Any chance you can forward your post to Washington, D.C.?

Funny, have a good friend and we can argue about a lot of topics. Recall one where I said we need to have term limits on our representatives.

He said, "Be careful, then the bureaucrats in Washington who run everything will have a free had to do what they do anyway but at least now with some checks! Many think they are much smarter than we “average folk!”

Making your job less difficult is not a high priority in my life. I think this thread has been very entertaining for many different reasons.

^^^^ Have you checked out the steep depreciation on some of the upper level German cars? Even though the Corvette has a pretty good depreciation rate, I think it would be even better if GM doesn't overproduce the Corvette after the initial first two years demand craze.

I think this discussion has been interesting if for no other reason than entertainment value. However, there have been some credible nuggets here, and if you're a careful reader you can sort out the wheat from the chaff.

For example, if you've spoken to someone who has seen the car, and that person reports that GM divulged to that person that the target price is approximately 10% or so more than base C7 for the base ME, that is credible information if one knows the reputation of the holder of that info. Thats entirely different than someone saying, " I know it's going to cost $XXK." Too many are making categorical statements without foundation.

A lot of the credible reports that have appeared in these pages cast the information in terms of "this is what GM wants to do, but no decisions have been made." That's entirely different than what GM will ultimately do. Nothing is really cast in stone at this point, but it's interesting to hear about where GM is trying to go with the car.

If you couple credible leaked inside info with GM's traditional Corvette pricing model, then you have a theory that is more plausible than many of the crazy ones being advanced here.

It's one thing to voice your "opinion" about your "speculation' on what the upcoming mid engine car will be/not be, but those who clam to have "inside" information, and that they should be believed 100%, should shut up. They want to appear that they are not speculating but distributing facts, but they can't back up anything they say. Just 100% worthless information.

EVERYONE who posts here is just speculating without any real information to share. I've made posts about what I think the mid engine will be, but my posts are 100% speculation, so take it with that knowledge. If I did have any "real" information that I received from my friends that are retired execs at GM(marketing and engineering) I would not share that information. But, to be clear, even though I have asked, I have not received any "insider" information. Any thing I post is from a 100% spectator and is 100% my opinion, and therefor holds the same weight as those that portray themselves as having "inside" information.

Take every post with a ton of salt and enjoy them for what they really are....unsubstantiated opinions with no facts being presented.

Joe, I agree, but I see nothing wrong with reporting a few details of what credible inside sources have reported to you, without linking it to specifics. Readers can take that info with a grain of salt, and don't have to believe it, but it does mean something. You can't substantiate that source without violating that person's trust, exposing them, and burning their relationship with GM.

You're absolutely right if you're an honorable person, you can't back up what you're sharing. I've received a bit more info than I have shared, which was the "within 10% of current base" target" from GM. However In retrospect, I wish I'd shared nothing here, and I will no longer post anything here regarding info I receive on the new ME.

I've never cared whether it was believed or not. It was simply offered.

Literature shows Porsche while more expensive up front holds value better but that is just numbers, drive and buy what you like. I like my C7 always brings a smile to my face. Right now Im on the side lines for the 8. Lots engineering to work out, electdical and heat are my major concerns.

Happy New Year!

I just found hilarious the youtuber that takes information from this forum and make a video as if the information was their own. They pretend they have rock solid info coming from an GM internal source (fake) just to pretend how connected they are to gain some views.
