Eight Weeks

Former Vendor
A dealer rep spoke at our Corvette club the other night and stated that the reveal had originally been planned for Detroit in January, but it got delayed until April, so that would give the C8 a New York auto show debut. Makes sense, given the lack of info about a Detroit reveal at this late date.

1) NO development problems are being experienced at this time.
2) Production of customer 2020 ME Corvettes is going as originally scheduled;
3) It will stay on that track regardless of whether the reveal is Detroit in mid-January, or New York in mid-April.
4) If you can afford a 2019 medium-level Grand Sport, you can afford an entry 2020 ME Corvette.

Wherever whenever the Reveal is it looks like it may be quite awhile before you can drive them off the lot:

IF this is true, it must mean it will be EOY before production cars drop.

But wait! We haven’t had Zerv02 “confirm”....
if that mid-level GS price-equivalency holds, my 2017 will be 5 years old in ‘22 and hopefully have good trade in value on a used C8. Actually, mine will be paid off in ‘20 so maybe I can pop for a new C8. Oh, the depreciation will get me again! I may even be able to sell my carbon fiber trim off to someone.

Racer mag is confirming what NCM Board member Les Wong told USA the the NCM 24th Anniversary Celebration in Septdember, that the C7.R’s are racing next year.
This will not have anything to do with either the reveal date nor the production schedule.
Corvette lovers remember that this is exactly what happened with the C7.R’s, that they did not appear until the second year of production, that the C6.R’s raced the first year of the 1.13.13 reveal, the time of 2014 Stingrays first being customer delivered, and similar.
The C7.R did not appear until 1.13.14 on stage next to the then also being revealed C7 Z06.

The NAIAS show in Detroit is eight weeks away. For quite a while, my thinking has been that the ME C8 would be introduced in Detroit in January of 2019. ….
(I am also convinced beyond any shadow of a doubt that the front engine Corvette will be produced for, at most, 2 years after the introduction of the ME C8, and probably less than that, but keep in mid that is just my opinion). All of the above being said, I am extremely surprised that, since the 2019 show is just 8 weeks away, GM has not said one word about the introduction of the 2020 ME C8 Corvette, and not one definitive word from usually spot on sources such as Jalopnik. . That in itself makes me wonder. Hmmmmmm?

Saw the C7 it for the first time on TV at the Detroit Show. Then the IVERS were running around at various locations. Saw my first C7 in person in August 2013 at the Vintage Car Races at Laguna Seca. There were ~10 IVERS, the C7 bare chassis and a number of GM brass.
First cars were not delivered until around late August, early September. My September built 2014 Z51 was delivered 1st week in October 2013. I put a small amount of hold money about February to be able to order when pricing was available. Timing fits for a 2020 intro.
No way the C7 will continue for long as orders will come to a crawl!
But then "who knows for sure?"

When is GM going to stop playing this secrecy game, it is getting worn out and with every introduction of a new model. I am looking forward seeing this ME for under a $100k and be able compete with the big boys.

Yep, great marketing idea, show everybody what you will have in a ~year so they will stop buying what you’re selling now to lose more money! Smarter to wait closer to when you can Delivery the new car and make-up for lose of current car sales.
Don’t worry it will be well under $100,000 so they can sell the volume of cars needed to fill the new expanded factory. Did you think they were coming out with a $100,000 car so you could watch it “Beat The Big Boys” on TV while you drive your old Vette!
