Only thing I could find is that the EPA does not calculate MPG using the auto start feature if it can be turned off. In the case of GM, since their system can't be turned off, the EPA numbers reflect that the start/stop feature is used 100% of the time.

It appears that the car manufacturers decides which system they want to use, and not the EPA.

That's good info and makes perfect sense. That sounds like a relatively recent change of regulation. My understanding was that the early adopters of start/stop, such as on my 15 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, and 14 Jag F-Type got CAFE credit for it even with an "OFF" button because it defaulted to "ON."

It would make perfect sense for tightening CAFE rules to have made a modification to close that loophole.

I’d say the the “electrical issues” are a result of the hybrid drivetrain. It’s like I said in another thread, if you want a glimpse of the C8, take a look at the current gen. Acura NSX.

The story of my life:

Wife (completely out of the blue): Why don't you order a 2020 Corvette?

GM: 6 month delay due to electrical issues

The Hybrid C8 should be the last reveal in the gen.
If true, the first 2 gas powered models shouldn't have been affected by this "electrical issues."
Of course, this is just speculation.

I’m predicting that there won’t be just a hybrid variant, but all C8s will be hybrids. Again, like the NSX, the Porsche 918, the LaFerrari, the BMW i8, etc.

Not a chance.
There would be a revolt from The Faithful, and GM knows it.

It's also possible that the C8 will be a Mild-hybrid with a 48 volt primary electrical system with no electric motors powering any of the wheels directly, unlike the NSX, the Porsche 918, the LaFerrari, the BMW i8 etc..

well seeing how you are old enough to collect social security I guess I didn’t exaggerate or generalize at all! Now for the electrical issues, who really knows if there is one or not. Could be heresay or truth we wont really know........for awhile anyways.

The delay works for me. I need more time to decide on a C7. Orded and owned two C3s and also once owned a used C3.
That should date me.
Hope the last C7 is a 2020. Has a nice ring.
A C7 convertible 1LT ,7 spd. and dual mode . Hopefully, $52,500 or thereabouts.
Heck, my first C3 was $5450 and my last was $8700 !
Those were the days...

My wife's '17 XT5 with the stop/start cannot be turned off, but my '18 CTS allows me to do it. Upon restart it reverts back to the stop/start mode so you need to press the button to deactivate each time the vehicle is shut off. Not sure about the '19 Caddys or other GM vehicles.

I believe the Europeans are way ahead of the US on the 48V technology.

Man you guys are better than Comedy Central or Saturday night live, if there was an engineer here in this forum they are laughing pretty good or saying OMG we have this as customers. How is it possible a Corvette is going to have a higher load than an Escalade or any other 4+ seater, no way, guys your making Einsteins brain hurt with the stupidity, and how can you compare a C4 to 21 century GM, pleez

BTW, the one that cruised by me yesterday didn't sound too electric, and...the best thing is that the pics I took show a much more beaut of a car that the YELLOW ONE this forums artist flubbed up in photoshop.

They did a great job on the exterior

with all that said, why does a delay have to do with development?

Are you blind to the news the GM is dumping 8000 jobs? the union is says wait, the government the bailed them out is saying wait a minute, then this news, its sounding like a good political ploy.

This is my thought as well. I think it is just as likely that they are experiencing difficulties hitting performance benchmarks - it could very well be slower than the old car at this point in time.

Probably right. GM is killing the little guy's car, the Cruze, and firing all the workers while it expands the plant building the rich man's car, the Corvette, and brings out an expensive new model that guzzles gas.
Definitely not politically correct. So delay it until the political heat cools down and spend more time getting everything right.

Meanwhile, refresh the C7 and add the Blackwing engine/10 speed AT drivetrain while making more options standard equipment. Now everyone is happy.
