Default C8 manual a highly possibility now

I was watching the teaser video from chevy and when I listened closely i heard the shift and it didnt sound like a dual clutch, instead it sounded like a manual. Just listen to the teaser video.

I laugh at the "Auto/DCT is faster" justification for eliminating manuals...

Does anyone realize how ridiculous of a statement that is? First, if being faster was the only criteria for keeping a transmission, then the auto would have died in the Corvette over 50 years ago. Second, unless you are competing for money, or only care about setting lap records (last I checked, no private member has their name on any lap records for production stock cars at any track I am aware of), then being the "fastest" means nothing other than not having to hone a skill.

I advocate for options - meaning I want everyone to have the option to choose what transmission they want. This - manuals are dead because they are 0.01 seconds/lap slower - mentality is immature, and not historically based. You want the car to shift for you - great, I don't - would rather work on my driving control skills which includes shifting a transmission manually - for me.

I suspect the engine sounds during shifts were not the C8. JMHO.

They could easily be taking a page from Marvel's book, where they put stuff in the trailers that never actually happens in the final movie.

Well we can all hope, more than likely the teaser video was just some good vette soundtrack marketing had on file. End of NCM video is a DCT for sure.

Yup. Definitely an auto shift transmission is what I heard too. Not, a manual.

People are talking about both. The problem with the promo video is the soundtrack is not attached to video of a C8...could be anything that sounds good.

COrvette sure sounds quiet in bowling green.....its a hybrid? Then wakes up and revs in neutral as it revs the motor?

Well since none of us know what is coming, that is hard to say

If it was a true e-axle AWD, you would't really hear it anyhow. More likely, if it were quiet, I'd put my bets on an active exhaust that can be turned to quiet.

Yeah you're right about what is coming, and I think that's what chevy is doing the active exhaust. more than likely it will be on the car since they had it on the c7 and it was great to a lot of people.

Everything's pointing to the DCT. It'll be a nice surprise to see a manual offered though but I'll still go for the DCT for track purposes.

Yeah I feel the same way. Faster and easier to control in my opinion.

How is the driver able to blip the accelerator as he drives around the circle if not with a manual transmission?

Most DCTs, including Porsche PDK, will go into neutral when momentarily pulling back both floppies. You re-engage drive by left/right paddle select.
