Why are we discussing Porsche? The title of this thread says Ferrari and Lamborghini.

why not? just start a youtube channel and your 1st post that titled "I bought a mid engine supercar!" and become youtube famous.
Then "I supercharged my C8"
"First C8 in 10s"
"I single turbo'd my C8"
"First C8 in 9s"
"I crashed my C8"
"I bought a C8 ZR1"
"I bought a Mclaren"
in three yrs they will be posting "I bought a Chiron!"

Have you ever driven a Porsche GT2 RS? There aren't many of them around, but it's hard for me to believe that any sorts car enthusiast wouldn't like that car. The only negative about the car is that it is a flipper magnet, which makes it impossible to buy the car without paying a huge ADM. Another Porsche which most enthusiasts enjoy is the GT3 RS.
Finally if you have about a million to spend on a car there's the Porsche 918 Spyder. The only downside of that car is that some people confuse it with a far less expensive Corvette: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6e0dH7D3Xg

How many overall wins does the Porsche 911 have at Le Mans? ONE in 1998 and that's when Corvette didn't have a race team. The rest of Porsche's wins have come in prototype cars.
Paris -Dakar rally Porsche has 2 wins 1984 and 1986 and again corvette didnt have a factory race team and the very few private teams were using them as they were intented on paved tracks not the middle of the desert.
For Pikes Peak I see Chevrolet has 14 overall wins and yet Porsche only has 1.

If you have the money to buy a Huracan don’t even hesitate the C8 will be a very nice car, but I think people are getting a little delusional already comparing it real exotic cars, in 4 years there will be C8’s on every street corner, Lambo’s ...... not so much

I have had several Ferraris, currently a 488. I have an Aventador and a new Ford GT all of which makes me an expert on nothing other than how to **** away money. I also have a deposit at Kerbeck for a C8–why?
I grew up with Vettes—the great American sports car—the greatest bang for the buck, and a car I can drive to work or to the store and generally not worry about. I have had first year C5s, C6s and C7s—remarkably mostly trouble free. I have had 9 Vipers—love American sports cars.
im particularly excited about the prospect of a mid engine, which to me provides a better driving experience.
”Most”, not all “exotic” owners I know don’t look down their noses at Vettes.

Although I'm not a Ferrari or Lambo owner, I have a 2017 AMG GT S that was $153K new. I'm considering buying a C8 but my decision won't come until next year because I have too many unanswered questions about the C8. I've had C3, C5 and C6 Vettes and my last GM car was a CTS-V. Aside from performance questions about the C8, I want to see if has a high-quality interior and how good its build quality will be. Unless it has a much better interior and tech than previous Vettes, I';; stick with German performance cars. Reliability of Italian cars sucks and their cost of service and repair is astronomical.

The bottom line is that someone who drives a Ferrari 488, Huracan, Aventador, high-end Aston is not going to be interested in a Corvette, period - at least not as their street car. It is just not enough of a status symbol for these folks. If one can afford to drive and pay the consumables for a $400,000+ car, one is simply not interested in the bang-for-the-buck argument. The exception to the rule would be someone who is wealthy enough to have a collection of cars, in which case adding a ZR1 or similar makes sense, or someone who has a racing hobby, in which case a Corvette or Porsche track special makes sense.
By the same token, owners of older exotics such as the Gallardo, Modena 360, and so on, who have suffered the crazy maintenance and have decided it does not make sense to shell out $475,000 for a 488 Pista but still want a newer very fast toy... might spring for the top-level Corvette... again, the ZR1.

Bench racing performance numbers on a street car = yawn from me; its the experience and visceral emotions that draws me. If its a street car, its gotta elicit that and bring smiles per mile; but again, thats my opinion.
I do concur with your overall idea btw. Its a compelling case (the C8) and it can punch above, but Im highly skeptical as to the value if the performance attribute is the only saving grace. Where I disagree is if in track car application. There are faster options that would be superior to a prospective ZR1 in a myriad of ways. A base C8 is an answer there but GM does not seem interested in letting that be the case.

I like Corvettes, always have - I'm 77 - like my C7, but not married to it. Looking forward to a C8. I also have an old 328 GTB Ferrari - it's not for sale and I split the DD duties between it and the C7... and, yes, I take long trips in the Ferrari. I bought it to drive, not be a piece of garage furniture..... and the Vettes? Got more than 800,000 miles in Corvettes... at the end of the day: Ferrari, Corvette, Rolls, etc. - they're all just cars.

Agreed - I skipped the C8 because of the poor production quality on the exterior. I would've been more okay with the C8 had they released it with a manual option. I'm waiting on the C9 now and I just bought a gated Gallardo to hold me over. Don't know what to do if the C9 doesn't come in a manual, but the C7 sure is strong enough for me - my love affair with Corvettes has been love/hate lately...

Have a 2004 gated Ferrari 360 spider and a 2008 Porsche Cayman S manual shift neither of them are going anywhere. The C8 is an additional car to have fun with. I really do not care what people think. about my cars. I drive them very little. I do not have them to say look at me. I have them because I love to look at them and take them for a run . I have been a member of the local Ferrari club for 25 years. None of people I told laughed (at least to my face ) when I mentioned I am getting a C8. I did have several mentioned that they hoped I would bring the C8 out on a track day. BTW 98% of the people of Ferrari Club of America are nice people. Though they may prefer Ferrari but they do not waste time and energy scoffing at other cars. They will talk your ears off about the merits and faults of Ferrari.
