Depends on how they score the driving dynamics and feel vs just straight performance. Jason Carissa is on the record stating that if the 2018 Miata they had out there would have had the 2019 revised engine the Miata likely would have been crowned the 2018 Motortrend Best Drivers Car over the Lambo, Porsche, ZR1, MClaren, etc. He said it was that good.
But pure performance? No. But you can put a V8 LS in it
I'm sorry, but that has to be the ugliest front end Porsche has ever put on a 911. I have always been a 911 fan, and have owned them, but in this pic it looks like a VW Passat gone bad.
Will be interested to see how the car ranks. C7s were always right under the ultra high end performance cars (918s, P1s, etc) and above many of the other exotics.
Based on that pic, and the magazine's tendency to put the 🏆 up front, looks like Stingray#1, Porsche#2,...and so on.
I just picked up a 2019 Miata club to play with while I wait for the C8 frenzy to die down. I get why it’s always included in these tests. I also get why most don’t agree. But that’s ok. I love driving the thing.
evening and best wishes to all c8 enthusiasts. ..not sure how or where to post this. don't want to offend any.. we have 2 cars coming for the rally, full load to help the trip, the lift and prolly tire change to ease the back pain... we will update youtube and have a website being built as we do every year. if possible the cuban brothers will be ghosting us in a special vehicle,,, Toronto - Havana

The lighting isn't flattering for the C8 either, in my opinion. It overexaggerates the creases and makes it look like origami.

best regards to all..
They closed the Cuba loophole at the start of this summer, I tried to go, so not sure how they are going to pull off Havana.

Under $50K it is the most fun car to drive. People also hate on the 2020 Supra, but everybody who has driven it says it's epic and it's easy to tune to over 600 HP. It is just kind of ugly looking to some people.

I'm talking about the shape, the more I look at it the more it looks like the last iteration of VW Beetle front end. 911 always had beautiful looks to me, this one does not.

I wonder if the 911 nose is a result of the European standards regarding pedestrian safety. Take a look at the recent Jaguars and you can plainly see it there.

Can't fix ugly.... I don't care how it drives if it looks retarded. Saw my first one on the road Monday and it was just as bad as in the pic. The Miata on the other hand is a very very nice car.... just can't fit at 6'4".
It's body color because that's what looks best with the body color roof options. They wanted a new aesthetic for this car and that included a painted windshield surround including a-pillars. As such, that favors the fully painted roof. Easy to fix with some vinyl if you wish.
Also, the C4/5/6/7 didn't have any body atop the windshield... the top of the windshield and gaskets was it. If you look how tight the C8 roof panel fits in the trunk, I think they did this partly to make the targa panel physically shorter so it had any chance of fitting.
I like how you think...but it would be nice to have the option to have the roof and A pillars backed out...Ferrari offers said option on the 488...as to vinyl that could be an option but if vinyl isn't Wrapped there can be issues both aesthetic and functional. But the new vinyls are amazing so there could be some options there for sure. Here is a pic of my 997 TT with "Carbon Fiber" wrapped frunk...I was constantly getting compliments, plus with the 997 sloping hoods provided 100% protection.
