Default Hot cabin

With engine so close to the cabin, do you think it will make the cabin hot.

No... if you watch any of the GM engineering presentations they specifically address this. The cabin is cooler as there is no hot exhaust running in the center tunnel.

The engine is no closer to the cabin than before. In both cases it is separated by a thin firewall and a small air gap. As others have stated, the hottest part of the engine(exhaust) is now much further away.

Many years ago I put a small block into a Fiero. The cabin temp was fine. The C8 will have no problem.

Nah. In addition to what has been said in prior posts, the air ducts for the HVAC system no longer are next to the warm firewall.

It was a blast to drive, but absolutely terrifying when I really dropped the hammer. Way too much torque for a tiny, light car with no stability control or modern engineering. I could break the wheels loose at 70 without flooring it.

The short answer is "no". The cabin will be no hotter than a FE car. It actually may be cooler as no exhaust under the floor. My F430 was never hot inside due to engine temps.

It will be cooler unless Harlan and Tadge are lying.

I mostly ran Hoosiers on the back of mine, and it would stay hooked at full throttle in second gear. You're right, regular street tires didn't do so well....

Loved my ‘88 GT back then and still many owners still do. And this site is still dedicated to serious mods.
