No... if you watch any of the GM engineering presentations they specifically address this. The cabin is cooler as there is no hot exhaust running in the center tunnel.

The engine is no closer to the cabin than before. In both cases it is separated by a thin firewall and a small air gap. As others have stated, the hottest part of the engine(exhaust) is now much further away.

Many years ago I put a small block into a Fiero. The cabin temp was fine. The C8 will have no problem.

The short answer is "no". The cabin will be no hotter than a FE car. It actually may be cooler as no exhaust under the floor. My F430 was never hot inside due to engine temps.

I mostly ran Hoosiers on the back of mine, and it would stay hooked at full throttle in second gear. You're right, regular street tires didn't do so well....
