Why hasn't Doug DeMuro reviewed the C8?
#41
General Motors was fearful of what Doug DeMuro might say in assessment of their new C8.
That's a shame that General Motors is running scared - but it cannot be perceived any other way.

I dont even read car magazines anymore. All YouTube all the time.
I love the rawness and realness of it. The truth.

Maybe someone will post in a single sentence or two why he has not reviewed it. I could not make it past the point in the video where he says "generally speaking" more than a half dozen times in the span of thirty seconds.........Just the words "generally speaking" and "basically" drive me nuts in a generally speaking sort of basically kind of way.
For anyone that actually watched all fourteen minutes maybe clue the rest of us in as to why even though he has had millions of tweets, millions of instagrams, millions of emails, millions of texts, millions of bums on the street grabbing him by the elbow to ask - "hey doug, why haven't you reviewed the C8 yet?"

At first he didn’t seem butt hurt, just explaining the situation, but after a while, it seemed he just wanted to whine. He is not exactly a car expert despite creating his Doug score. It’s mainly all subjective to his desires.

I disagree but love him or hate him, he has a massive following and is the kind of personality that GM should want to "review" the C8. I would say he has more influence than any single print publication right now.

Doesn't know squat about cars? I'm certainly not a fanboy but I'm sure he's forgotten more about cars than you know. The way he points out the smallest "quirks" as he calls them about each car certainly makes him an interesting YouTuber which is definitely demonstrated by the substantial amount of views he gets. I don't understand the attitude by the older crowd here on CF towards YouTubers or even any of the "new ways" to make money. Perhaps because they don't involve toiling in a factory for several decades in poor working conditions for low pay or one of the other numerous blue collar jobs that a lot of members of the boomer generation worked?
I never heard of the guy (Doug DeMuro) until a member here posted this thread.
I want to hear about the car from the perspective of those that;
A) aren't on GM's payroll in any way, as ALL the car magazines are,
and
B) someone who isn't invested in already having ordered one (C8) that has lost all their perspective, because they're running around insulting and trying to discredit others opinions of the car - because their feelings are hurt.by others differing opinions.
Doug sure has A LOT of followers for some thinking he's irrelevant.

Too many people have lost the point of this thread again. The C8 is the most requested car by several factors. He mentions SUVs as cars that people actually buy. They want to see them because they want to buy them. Demuro is a bellwether of popularity and has no actual influence on purchases. GM simply dosent need him to sell their cars, and certainly not the C8. The guy is a social media phenom and thats where all these request are coming from.

Just seems so premature to be handing out car of the year awards to something that has not even been released to customers.
And the best movie award for 2019 goes to Pulp Fiction 6 which will be released in August 2020.

Joe, you are letting your dislike of the C8 override any rational thoughts you might have.

Here's a guy that knows more about European sports/super/hyper cars than all of us combined. And for those who say DD doesn't know about cars, he makes a lot of money with his "lack" of knowledge about cars, how about you?

I'd wager that he knows more about cars than you do.

Old line companies (similar to I'm guessing many on the forum) tend to be a little slower to adopt new formats. With the ease of content access on YouTube it has a huge influence on buying decisions. In another year or two people will laugh that top influencers were once ignored.

While print magazines may have less reach, most of them (if not all) also have videos and online articles that supplement/complement the physical magazines, so it's not just 'print vs. online'.

I couldn’t possibly care less about him, his whiny voice, or silly Doug Score. He’s a tool.

Doug lost all credibility in my eyes after I watched him talk about hexagons for 30 min on the Huracan.
