Default Air Conditioner Compressor Replacement

Just for informational purposes, my 2022 C8 HTC air conditioner compressor is not kicking in. Dealer confirmed and ordered new one, stated it was on back order like everything else. Car has 2,000 miles on it, first issue of any kind. Just have to drive with the top down until the compressor is replaced.

Default C8 with a bad… spinning something?

I picked up my ‘21 couple in mid September last year. After about 1k miles I noticed a pronounced tapping in the engine above 1800 RPM. Sounded like a flapping or mis-sprukng valve? I took it back to Macmulkin where it sat for just shy of two months in service to replace the lifters. At that point it was January in New England so I drove it straight into storage. Taking the car back out in April I noticed the exact same issue, even comparing my car back-to-back with my brother’s mechanically identical ‘21. I brought it right back, where it still sits. Apparently Macmulkin service is still unable to diagnose the problem. We’re pretty deep into lemon law territory now but I’m told they will be effectively replacing my car with a ‘23, though I’m not confident on the timeline. My ‘96 always starts up and runs like a sewing machine but this has not been a great experience so far.

If you're pushing it to 18k RPM, you're definitely floating the valves.

What's everybody's oil temp getting up to? I was in stop and go traffic in 73 degree outside temps and the oil was up to 205 at a couple points.

Typically around 180-190 max.
Edited to add - the above number is max - but oil temps around town are typically in the 170's.

I'm lucky to get mine over 167 for oil or 171 for coolant temp. I can drive down the freeway for 30+ minutes in 4th gear and not get the car up to 175 coolant, 170 oil. To check my oil I need to to a 20 minute freeway run followed by stop and go traffic to get it up to temp.

Do you guys think this is something I should be concerned about? I'm at around 550 miles. The other day in 95 degree weather my engine temp was up to 212 in stop and go and the burning smell was pretty strong from the back. During break-in I assumed it was residual oils burning off, but before that day it seemed to be going away.

No problem, probably just a leaky DCT. 😂

Not an issue. Mine is similar to yours in stop and go traffic. Once back on the highway it drops down the the 180-190 range. There have been a few threads about this if you want to do a search.

Default My 2022 has a jerky ride. Not happy.

My new 2022 HTC C8 has a very jerky ride that’s incredibly irritating. Dealer tried to fix with no success. Now told it needs parts and Chevrolet has no idea when the parts will arrive. Chevrolet says they accept ‘accountability’. Big deal. My new car doesn’t work. And it’ll be the end of summer before I can drive my convertible. Very, very disappointed with Chevrolet.

212 F is not uncommon nor a problem.

Just curious if and how much difference between Z51 vs. standard C8 in stop and go traffic coolant temp.

Was wondering if I would be the only "ageless gentleman" behind the wheel of one of these mechanical marvels. Nice to see I'm not alone

My Z51 seems to run cooler in stop and go traffic than what non-Z51 owners have been reporting.
But that is sort of meaningless. None of the temperatures being reported in properly operating cars are of concern.

Based upon a total sampling of 3 cars traveling in 95 degree weather there is no difference.
Then again - a sample size this small in standard traffic has little value.
