The 0-60 in 2.9 is for the Z51 car with the lightest possible spec: LT1, comp seats, and basically zero creature comforts. No front lift, no extra speakers, no engine appearance pack. Also, they probably ran it with a half a tank and a skinny driver. Of all the drag pulls I’ve seen so far, I have yet to see this setup. Until someone does it this way, I don’t think Chevy has anything to sweat.

I remember when Cycle World would report their 1/4 mile times for motorcycles.
They had Jay Pee Wee Gleason (RIP) do the testing; he was an expert drag racer and weighed about as much as a thoroughbred jockey.
Actually its happened in the past with other companies. Not to the point of an actual lawsuit going forward. But threatening of one, so something was done to correct the claims by the manufacturer.
Mostly coming from MPG claims. But you wouldn't understand
Another troll who is trying to convince guys here that this is some carefully orchestrated conspiracy by GM and multiple independent testers to misrepresent the C8. The auto press has actually bettered GM's #s. These guys are all out to get us with misinformation, misrepresentation, and organized chicanery according to the GM/Corvette hating trolls.

"zero creature comforts"? Absolutely ridiculous statement. Have you ever read what is standard with the 1LT? Hardly a lack of driver comforts.

I am an attorney and the applicable statute for a claim of false advertising would be under the Lantham Act. In my opinion, this issue could not meet the threshold requirements to support a claim. Someone could try but I do not believe they would be successful and the claim would be dismissed. Further, I have no doubt that GM has very specific admissable evidence to back up their claim or they would never have made it.
Where the configurator lists "zero to 60 in under 3 seconds", it also references that it is a "GM testing estimate"
Of course they can't be sued.
Too many variables. In perfect ideal conditions (temperature, humidity, road surface, altitude, etc) I think the C8 will be close enough to the manufacturers claimed numbers.
If you live in a hot humid place, or in high elevation like Colorado or Utah your car will never, ever come close stock. NA engines at high altitudes don't have as much power. I would guess you would be lucky to get a 4 second 0-60 run in a stock C8 at higher elevations until there is forced induction available. Are people in these other states going to sue? Come on. No. Every car is affected by conditions and surface.

Peewee was awesome......When the 1100 Magna came out there was a great drag scene. Unfortunately the lawyers made us (I worked for Honda at the time) take that ad down as it "implied" you should use the bike like this...and this was the 80's...

Buddy of mine owns a Honda store and he said that the ad with the V65 Magna and Pee Wee was the most effective ad he'd ever seen. There was a line at the store to get in and see the Magna when he opened.
Why don't you wait until the break in miles are put on the car before complaining? With the delivery schedule we have seen very few cars that show up at a strip have been broken in.
Mentions how the GT500 came out "blazing" fails to mention the gt500 is over 700hp!! Stop trolling, go post in the mustang forum! Buy what you like! The op asked the dumbest **** the C8 section has seen yet
No need to be hostile man. If you dont like something just dont post in it. How these threads turn into sh*t shows and the bickering etc. I got sucked in recently. So dumb.
The C8 has proven it has been close enough that there's no way someone could say it was a false statement. Heck Tadge used the "we've seen" for the under 3 seconds. And they could've. Who's to say they didn't back the cal down some after production. Started for any number of reasons but reliability would be a big one?

Dont get too bent out of shape over someones opinion or question. So because we question something we are trolls?
