C8 vs Lamborghini Huracan Evo

Read the article carefully. There is way too much confirmation that says the C8 is a SUPERIOR AUTOMOBILE. Before anyone attacks me please read the article carefully. It is confirming what i have been saying all along. The C8 is a BETTER ENGINEERED CAR THAN A LAMBORGHINI EVO. Anyone who says differently isnt paying attention to experts reviews.

Lamborghini’s racing pedigree is almost non existent. They’re getting better though. The Perf was helped by one of Ferrari’s old guys and apparently it was the best Lambo yet.
Also, NCD, did you read the article carefully enough to see all the times they said no one would cross shop these cars?

Also, never owned a GM product other than Vettes, but GM engineers great Corvettes. A real sports car with a real racing pedigree.

Corvettes have a surprising amount of amenities. I’ve always been a huge fan of the HUD. I was surprised when I got my first one and it had cooled seats. The PDR is also super cool, though I didn’t get much use out of mine.
Better engine? More reliable I’m sure. The Lambo has far more power and is a much faster car, though that’s expected with this being the base C8. I’m sure the Z06 will come much closer if not match/beat the Evo.
It’s def way cheaper.

16 Vettes and counting…..

Yeah....and at the end of "Strawberry Fields" you can hear John say "Paul is dead."

Dated, like paying 1000 bucks for a iphone. Get with the program, because even Hyundai is preparing for a Rolls Royce takedown. What WAS isnt what is in 2020. Chuck Taylors are still great shoes, but cost 10 bucks with no name on them. Suckers pay 50 for nostalgia.

Article also suggests the base Corvette can keep up with the Huracan in a straight line. That game ends around 65mph, I would expect the Z06 will do better.
Seems like NCD's definition of "sucker" is anyone who can & does spend more money on what they want then he can. Envy is strong in this one.

Would be interested to see the difference in track times. I'm certain it is measured in multiple seconds. They "conveniently" didn't publish times, just impressions...

Key point. Anyone who can buy a Lamborghini Huracan Evo can buy a Corvettes or two as bad weather cars, so it's not an either or cross shopping. Same can't be said that anyone who can buy a Corvette can buy a Lamborghini Huracan Evo. Totally different demographics by net worth which is why the C8 will have no impact on these cars sales.
Article also suggests the base Corvette can keep up with the Huracan in a straight line. That game ends around 65mph, I would expect the Z06 will do better.

I own a Lamborghini, Ferrari and a C8. The C8 handles better than any of them. The Ferrari feels faster in a straight line and the Lambo is my favorite car for no reason except it’s a Lambo in my favorite color.

Why do writers (and others) insist that GM is losing money on the base model C8? It's been stated over and over that GM is making a profit on all Corvettes, regardless of level.
Otherwise, a fun read; thanks for sharing.
Have a good one,
Mike

I’m sure there was just no reason to. The Lambo is A LOT faster. I think they just wanted to compare driving dynamics.

The base StingRay has good traffic light grand prix gearing but without the horsepower its dead after 3 seconds against these types of cars. Needs Z06 or ZL1 type power to finish the run. Like to see a 5.5L DOHC Turbo RWD with FWD electrics as the Z06/ZL1 continuation cars. Maybe the standalone 5.5 in the Z06 & the AWD hybrid in the ZL1.
Not going to change the Supercar/Exotic buying metrics but its always nice to see a USA car with world class performance.

Agree the only thing they published was a 0-60 number & concluded the C8 will hang with the EVO in a straight line. They neglected to extend that straight line out to the classic 1/4 mile where the EVO will eat its lunch, steal its candy money & rip up its homework.

I know everybody hear likes to rip on New Car Dude, but he has a point. And I respect the man’s passion.
It seems like the only major downside of the C8 is that it’s a Chevy and not a Lamborghini. But if you set aside the badge and aesthetics (which are subjective), we have a machine which seems objectively as good as a Lamborghini exotic super car.
Now if the Lamborghini status and aesthetic, the overall “fashion statement” aspect, is worth the extra money, I get it.
But is it actually a superior machine? I truly do not see how it is.
Chevy has built a car that costs Porsche 718 money but meets or even exceeds Lamborghini standards. Unbelievable.
