I don't think Lambo is quaking in its boots. The C8 will bring previous Corvette buyers back into the market and expand the market -- but its not going to have much effect on the overall premium market.

If you want a Lambo, you will buy a Lambo. Its not numbers that will change your mind.

Nice write up. The more visceral nature of the Lambo and its vastly superior design make it worth the extra $.

As always, Vette is a performance bargain.

Wow. Unbelievable results! It is truly remarkable that they say the Corvette is just as good as a car that costs several times the price! I simply do not see how the Lamborghini price is justifiable, when the only significant advantages I see are the V10 sound and the exotic badge.

Would I still buy a Huracan if I could afford it? Yes, if only for that screaming V10.

But do I think it is a complete ripoff?

Also yes

Lamborghini is just that a super car. Exotic low volume production with Farrar superior build quality, parts and tech.
I know it's fun to say my car does 0to 60 in 3 seconds but it's a $60k high volume production car.

Lambo is a VW. Low production, but so what?

I find it interesting that whenever the 0-60 mph in 2.8 seconds results are mentioned, its always in reference to the Motor Trend article. I am waiting for Joe Average who owns a C8 will tell us that he/she went 0-60 in 2.8 seconds. Is Motor Trend the only ones that can achieve this?

I have had many Lamorghini's. From the Countach to the Aventador/Huracan. I can say, unequivocally, that the Huracan was the most exciting, most fun car I have owned. Include a few Ferrari's in that group also. I regret selling my Hurican and have been thinking about a new Evo but the dealer moved quite a bit from me and I did not want the traffic hassle but they would come pick it up and put it on a truck and take it in for service. When I got wind of the C8 I ordered one and have now driven it about 350 miles. It is also a fun car but I am waiting to get by the 500 miles so I can really see what it has. However I know that the 610-4 Huracan Evo will be much faster and corner better especially with the 4 wheel drive. Is the Huracan worth the extra $? Only you the buyer can make that judgement. I was going to wait for the Z06 to see if I was still interested in the Lambo but the recent news indicates it may be delayed to late next year and debut as a 2022 model. So I continue to wait and think. The C8, so far is providing the fun factor I missed with the Lambo. We shall see.

I saw a video the other day of an average joe doing it. No special prep. A lot depends on the hook up of the tires to the particular surface.

I agree with you that “If you want a Lambo, you will buy a Lambo…" .However, C8 will have a positive effect on the exotic car segment. when first generation NSX came out, it made Italian car manufacturer to take notice. NSX showed that a sport car with great handling and good look can also be reliable/dependable. Reliability of Italian exotics has improved over the years and part of that could be credited to 1st generation NSX.

C8 is much more advanced when it comes to technology. None of the Italian exotics currently offer a PDR, multi color HUD, review view camera/mirror, etc. I can’t even stream music in my 2018 Avent S. I had to buy a wireless car kit from Amazon, so I can stream music from my phone.

Hopefully, C8 will have the same positive impact on Italian exotics that NSX had with making them more reliable, but this time with regards to car technology.

I've driven two Lamborghini Huracans. Raced in one around a track courtesy of Xtreme Xperence and drove the Spyder version around for a day in L.A. last fall. Unless you're short you won't fit well in one. Im 6'2 250 lbs and my legs were against the dash both times i drove one. If you have some size on you it would be uncomfortable in a Huracan. I fit well in a Ferrari 488 GTB though.

Well done GM! The Corvette is not trying to be a Lamborghini, Porsche or Ferrari. It’s trying to be attainable for those of us who want the performance and looks of those “exotics” without the price tag.

I feel like it’s okay in this instance because the writer stated “no one would cross shop these cars, if you want a new Lambo you’re not gonna check out the Chevy dealer”. They just wanted to see how the cars compared in a strictly car vs car scenario and felt the Vette held up nicely. Which I expected. I will say GM has listened. My biggest complaint about the C5 was the interior. C6 was better, C7 was way better, and people seem to think the C8 is even better. The Corvette has been performing as well or better than Exotics for some time. It was other things that made it “inferior”.
