Holy crap, you actually worry about garbage like that?? Wear a clean dress to your next car show and be happy.

I haven't come by one person who isn't floored when seeing my HTC in person, even people who aren't really in to the Car Culture.

I am one of those Corvette guys that lets people sit inside the Car so they can have a cool Picture to show Family and Friends. (with discretion of course) Maybe that will motivate people to want a Corvette for themselves someday.

I had the same experience when I bought one of the first 2014 C7's in my area back in late 2013, but nobody ever asked me if it was a Ferrari or a Lambo like they have with with my C8 HTC.

All in all, it's fun to see people's faces light up when you talk to them about the Car and let them experience sitting in it. It's an added bonus of C8 Ownership IMHO. Nothing like spreading a little joy if you can.

I can tell you that 95% of my customers are repeat Corvette customers and 80% of them are 60 and older.

I highly doubt it. Besides, had the C8 not attracted new and younger buyers the Corvette brand would have quickly died given the fact previous gens were largely purchased by “baby boomers”. As Tadge told me a year and a half ago they went to the mid-engine for two reasons. He and his team reached the performance limits of the front engine platform and more importantly they had to attract younger buyers because without them the Corvette would not survive. In fact, I was surprised how candid he was when he added, “GM Executives made it clear the Corvette had be a profit center (made money) or it would be dropped.”

I agree, and the OP posted that, but I could find no reference at all to age in the article.

I was particularly interested in this because when I told a friend that I'm buying a Corvette, he said "That's an old man's car. You should get the new Bronco instead." (I just laughed at him.) I was hoping for some age stats on C8 buyers that I could use to counter his opinion, but I didn't find any.

What about the confederate flags? Should they be removed? I know my answer.

While I am 60, ( a few days into 61) I was absolutely done with Corvette. Nice enough cars with good performance, but I was shopping for a used 911S for nine months prior to the reveal. The C8 brought me back WAY stronger than any other Corvette I have owned or considered. So after a 20 year hiatus of ownership (not driving or being in one), the C8 did what I didn't think they could do. They are still relatively (based on where you live) rare on the road and the more that people see one in person, the more first time owners will occur. Let's face it, in the times of $70k pick-up trucks, a $60k Corvette doesn't even sound expensive any more.

Why would you be so concerned about what kind, quality, or condition of T shirt some old guy wears? Pretty weird Dude.

I would bet there is some pretty crafty statistics going on for them to claim 2/3 are brand new Corvette owners & that their avg income is $76k more than those who purchased a C7. Which C7, a base 1LT Stingray or a fully optioned ZR1?

I also love the comments trying to equate income to style of dress & what others choose to wear. It’s the same as the constant caring about whether others choose to daily drive their car or keep it in the garage - why does it matter?

For the record, I choose to wear athletic or cargo shorts & t-shirts or hoodies all year long because that’s what I find comfortable. Has nothing to do with my income level.

If you are looking down your nose at the way people dress at car shows and cruise-ins, you are probably the the one that doesn’t fit in.

That kind of attitude is exactly what turned me away from Corvette clubs. I’m a car guy first, it just happens that Vettes are my favorite.

I’m early 30’s and I would never have considered a corvette until the C8. No offense to probably most people on the board, but a corvette was a 55 year olds mid life crisis car to people my age (literally no disrespect meant).

This new style certainly attracted myself as well as other people my age to take the leap and get one. I could get a King Ranch F250 or a mid engine sports car that performs close to cars that are 200k. Easy choice. I’d say it was the best choice Chevy could have made. For the record I was looking at Porsche before I saw the C8 and it drastically changed my mind.

I got my 1st Corvette at 63, but didn't break 200 MPH (proper venue) until I was 70.

That's awesome, Dave!

Given where you live, and being into racing, have you heard of Hershel McGriff?

I moved here from NH, but of course I have heard of Hershal.

1st of two passes at 201.2 MPH, the slow pass was 198+:

100% correct. Corvette sales declined FIVE straight years, each year—culminating with a 50% drop in sales top to bottom in 2019. Then came C8. The rest is history.

Similar patterns can be found at the introduction to each new generation Corvette.
