Nightmare Dealer Service trying to screw me over
#21
Obviously, I dont know enough of your situation without seeing the other side. What I do know, is there are more ways to tell if a car has actually been in a flood than we could all write about all night. So it doesn't add up. Either you have found the most incompetent techs on the planet, or it was flooded. If it was flooded, seems you would be waist deep in an insurance claim and not here. Not adding up. You might post a few pics of this car to help out.

Ill get some pics up. As for the sand, I spend a lot of my summer out on Long Island at a bunch of different beaches with family. I also jetski locally, we stop on the beach all the time to hang out then get back on the skis and head to the marina. From the marina into the car and home. Sand is part of the deal. Always. The only thing im guilty of is not cleaning my car as often as I could have.

I know one thing, if they do need to drill to get in, I would drill the lock core under the license plate before I took a 3" hole saw to the trunk lid, that's just ludicrous.

I actually suggested they drill the keyhole since its connected to a release cable, and then manually pull on the cable connected to the lock. The service manager said he would bring that up to the tech but hes full of it.

This may sound odd, but did they push down on the lid while turning the key under the plate? That would take any preload off the latch and possibly make it easier to turn and release.

Just for chits and giggles. Lets just suppose the latch system has something broken internally and the pooch is screwed. It would be a royal pain, but I'd look at dropping the underpan, Finding a spot where I could get to the bottom of the trunk tub. Drill a hole. Fashion some kind of rod with a hook, reach up grab the child release and pull.
Might be doable, <might not be a chance in hell> I'd have to be under to see it. It would be a major pain in the ***, but far better than destroying the deck lid.

Yes and i tried it myself as well. I spent a good half hour doing it outside of the dealership trying to get it open. It looked like I was giving the car CPR.

Did the key turn at all or did it seem stuck?

Ok I just processed the video of me inspecting my vehicle approx two hours after the service managers claimed the vehicle was flooded and everything is wet. I guess he didn't expect me to make the one hour drive especially since he would not be there to show me the car. Luckily I took a chance and went with my spare key.

Please, explain to us why you think these folks are purposely refusing to work on your car and telling these supposedly enormous lies. They do not get paid to disallow warranty coverage nor do they share in any warranty cost. Factually, they only get paid to actually perform warranty work and they are compensated very fairly. This Service Manager has every financial incentive to do the work unless he fears the damage is so obvious that he will later be charged back by GM. That was the reason he showed up today is to do work and get paid...not to refuse work!
Or, is all this drama and YouTube talk a way to bring attention and views ultimately to your channel?

Chevrolet really needs to do something about the dealership experience with C8.
They successfully moved the car upmarket, and added a lot of new and more affluent buyers. This stuff is going to kill the experience and really hurt the brand unless they get it under control.
