Cool story, but sometimes you are "committed" and have cars behind you. You can't always predict what you will run into in areas you haven't driven before.
Committed? Lol. It’s a driveway / entrance not your wedding day.
I’ve never been so committed to the point that I wouldn’t wave people around or give them the “sorry” wave and abort to avoid damaging my car. Google maps street view is an incredible tool, and yes, I’ve literally looked at a destination on Google Maps street view to confirm. If I have real concerns about my destination, I drive my SUV or my wife’s Rubicon. Problem solved.
Again, I strongly feel the lift is a personal choice based on your surroundings (and apparently willingness to look foolish in front of complete strangers). Not knocking feature or the decision to get it, I think it’s pretty cool.
At $200 I would have bought it in a heartbeat. At $2k+ I didn’t think it was necessary...for me.
I have front lift. We are road trippers. Approach angles to service stations and other business parking lots differ greatly throughout the country. Regardless of your attempt to approach at an angle you can still get scraping. I don’t use the lift feature much in my home area but traveling I use it a lot.
If you use your car to hold down the garage floor you won’t need front lift. Depending on where you may travel you will love it.
NOPE. NON Z51 here.
But my guess is most that have it scraped first. How else would you know most of the places to put in GPS and be quick enough to add them before scraping?

This....nothing else to say here either.
My c8 scapes WITH front lift unless I am extremely careful. But that's just my driveway to garage. Wondering if the z06 will be lower at the high center or not lol.
Quarter of a million miles in previous gen corvettes scraped all the time.
12000 miles in c8 z51 no front lift never scrap in the NY metro area.
much better approach angle in c8 z51 is the reason.
Great car . Didnt want 2 lt interior so i didnt or rather couldnt buy E60 option.
if you are already doing 2 or 3 lt interior than just order the e60 front end lift would be my advice because I dont know where you are located and what your roads are like.
but in the NY metro area its not needed, glad I didnt buy the 2LT interior just to get the E60 front end lift.
I'm ordering a z06 (9.2 % approach angle for standard z06)to replace my c8 z51 (9.8 % approach angle)and I wont order E60 as I just dont need it. Just like I dont need the luxury items in the 2LT. Many here say the 2 LT is a minimum must have. I just disagree.
btw I pay for my corvettes with a personal check when I pick them up.
great sports car. Great daily drivers.

I have a Z51 with front lift. I have scraped when I misjudged and didn't think I needed to use the lift.
Needing the front lift depends on where you live and how you plan to use the car.
I have a steep driveway. I scraped with my C6 and C7 no matter how careful I was. I replaced the 2 front side spoilers on my C7 twice in the space of 5 years. I haven't scraped at all with the C8 and front end lift. It automatically raises when I get near my driveway.
Does the front end saty lifted when you shut the engine off? If you park over a tall curb using the lift, will you come out to find the front of your car resting on the curb?

Question for owners of C8 cars that did not order the Front Lift Option: Do you now regret not having ordered the Front Lift option?
I used to own a 911 GTS, with the Aero Kit and I do remember scraping the bottom of the front lip on an occasional basis, and it was not cheap to replace. I am ordering my new C8 and trying to determine if I want to spend $2260 for the Front Lift option (I would rather spend it on other options!).
Note: I am ordering the car with the High Rear Spoiler and no front splitter. I have heard the Front Splitter reduces the ground clearance from 6" to 5", so I am not going to order that front splitter. I am hoping the 6" ground clearance may keep me out of trouble, especially given how far forward the front wheels are on the new C8.
Any feedback from owners with no Front Lift, and no Front Splitter is appreciated!
Thanks.
like you I didn’t originally order the front lift. My driveway has a slight incline and a friend got his car and brought it over and he scraped, he didn’t have a splitter. Then I started paying attention to other places I drive, I send the dealer an email and added it to my order. After seeing the splash guards on his car and added those. They aren’t real visible and come out just enough to save some rock chips. I got an email back from the dealership saying those are the two best options you can add. That front lift is an expense, for me it's kind of a must. Without it I can’t get in my drive that means I wouldn’t be able to get in my mothers driveway, one of my son’s driveway, and one of my doctors parking lot. It really doesn’t that a very big incline to hit. I never think a lot about resale but I’m sure it would be a desirable option for anyone looking for a used C8.
It lowers about 8 to 10 seconds after you drive away or you shut off the car. It will remember 1000 locations. I’m never close enough to a curb to go over it, but I would imagine it would drop down when you shut off the car.

The Front Lift lowers based on speed or distance but not time. It will stay up until speed reaches 24 mph or engine shutoff. If GPS position was used the Front Lift lowers when 197 ft from that position.
