Does anyone talk crap about your car?
I get 90 percent compliments but I seem to run into the occasional person who has something to say. I'm just looking for a response to give to people who talk crap. Ignoring them is probably best but I'd like to at least say something to people who hate.
Had one stranger mutter under his breath at a restaurant, "anyone paying 80k for a car is an idiot". Had a coworker that I never met before tell me, "I'd never buy a Corvette, my Subaru is just fine" and another coworker I don't like say that I have a small body part and am trying to compensate for it.

Haters gonna hate. I haven't come across anyone with the stones to say something to my face. I'm sure there are those who say things behind my back.
Ignore 'em. You wanted the car, you have the car, enjoy it. Most negative comments are just sour grapes anyway.

Owned Corvettes for about 45 years and don't recall anyone ever uttering a negative comment. But do know a few Corvette owners who seem to go out of their way to draw attention to themselves which sometimes opens themselves up to criticism.
One example, a guy who will park his C7 Z06 directly in front of a restaurant or club as opposed to in a parking space like everyone else.

Take it in context; Anyone paying 80K for a car is an idiot; obviously someone that does not have 80K, and cannot not appreciate the thrill and enjoyment of a high performance sports car. I have a friend like that, he drives a Prius, and is about to retire at 70 and keep working to make more money. When I asked what he is going to do with the extra money, his answer "I don't know" His wife will not let him buy anything. End of story. Opinion does not count. What do you have that is better, money in the bank? What good is that if you don't do something with it. Ok, get your bank statement out on Saturday and enjoy it, while I am going on a Corvette club cruise to the coast.
My Subaru is just fine; Great drive it, enjoy it. Take it to car shows, car clubs, cruise ins, drag strip. Oh, it does not really work for that. OK enjoy.
Trying to compensate for small parts; I have heard that for as many years as I have been driving fast cars. My answer, (with confidence) no shortage there. Just ask my girlfriends.

You guys need more punk rock in your lives. First, I’d show the guy my junk second I’d call 80k guy a poor, and third I’d tell Subie oat boy Subarus are for hairy legged angry girls. Problem solved. I’d also trade my touring AWE for a track AWE and buzz them all the time

Nobody so far. I also get thumbs up and honks on the road. (Like all of you guys I guess)
That said, 2 kind of drivers seem more agressive and/or salty: Subaru STi and … Tesla drivers, making a point to pass me and cut in front of me even when I drive at the speed limit.
These devices on wheels are a plague…

Met a friend last night for 1 beer at local bar. When leaving, a group smoking outside made comments about ostentatious wealth, so I just mentioned "Drug Money" and they seemed placated.

I get to see a dealer deliver to the local extended stay in his Rolls SUV. Drug money they understand. Hard work and you're their bitch. People suck.

The number one favorite dig is the people who insinuate I should have had children instead of get a corvette. Meanwhile all the people my age with kids regret their life choices. 🤣
A coworker once said I don’t care about my job and that I just do overtime to afford a toy. I reminded her she shouldn’t be on the job if she needs a walker to do it.

I've not run into the problem, but I agree walking away is the best answer. If you HAVE to say something, how about "Life is too short to drive boring cars." Or maybe "They don't write songs about Volvos" (or whatever the person is driving).

Why would anyone care? Its not like they are talking about your wife or kids or anything.
Its --- a car.
