Default Still voiding Z06 warranties?

Is GM still voiding Z06 warranty if transfer of ownership within 6 months of purchase (in-service date)? I just talked with a dealer that has a 2025 purchased January 9th and traded with 600 miles in February. They called their Chevy dealership and I verified it also that on the GM website it still shows it valid. I suspect that it just hasn’t caught up in the system yet and that indeed it will be voided when the paperwork catches up…

The thing is, it's all internal at GM and like you said, when the change of ownership catches up, you'll be the one with zero warranty. BTW, with the number of discounted, sitting Z06s available, there are ZERO flippers and consequently ZERO reason for GM to do this. They really need to abandon this policy.

The car going back to a dealership may be handled differently. However, I'd get something in writing and have my attorney look at it before I'd consider such purchase. All the best, in any event.

There has already been an example posted on the forum of a case where someone acquired a used Z06 that was traded in before the holding period - the warranty record showed it was covered (or not blocked). But that was, as it turned out, because the "paperwork" or whatever had not kept up. And, the warranty was indeed void.

The 2025 warranty manual, which you can download from the chevrolet website, shows that they are still voiding the warranty for an early trade.

"For Corvette Z06 and E-Ray only: coverage
will be voided if ownership of the vehicle is
transferred from the original owner within
the first six months after delivery."

Nope no exceptions if sold/traded into a Chevy dealer.

I noticed that on the Chevy website (that I posted a pic of) they now only mention Z06 and it doesn't say E-Ray.

Yes, I see that. If it has changed, they have not yet updated the Warranty Manual (or the other way around - the Eray may have been added to the Warranty Manual, but the website Q&A section that you clipped was not updated to included it). The statement I posted came from the 2025 Warranty Manual that is currently available for download on the Chevrolet.com website. In fact that same page where you found what you posted says:'

"Go here for a full list of what is and what is not covered."

And, when you click "here" it takes you to the page where you download the manuals, including the Warranty Manual, for your year of car.

Thanks guys! Your comments confirm what I thought. What’s sad is that I had to explain this to the salesman. Hopefully their management does some homework and properly discloses the details pertaining to the factory warranty. Oh well, on to the next one…

Which is what I normally do, but I have to wonder which one is current, is it the FAQ that got updated or is that really old info. The warranty book in the car won't matter if you buy a 2025 and next Monday they stop the program.

That's right. Generally, I think changing the terms of a warranty after purchase is (hopefully) not legal if they attempt to delete some coverage or add exclusions. The Warranty Manuals for each model year are all still available on that website. I'm thinking that whatever that manual says for your year car is what applies. But I think if they wish to "add" coverage, or delete an "exclusion" retroactively they could do that. And, I do not know which one is "right". Technically, the Q&A section you found that says Z06 is not covered if sold in 6 months without listing Eray is not wrong, but it could very well be incomplete. There's lots more in the manual, other than the Z06 exclusion, that can result in denial of a warranty claim and its not all listed in the Q&A section.

That confirms its still active for Z06. Anyone recently purchase an Eray and also have to sign that agreement???

Another thing I do not know in either case, would the entire warranty be void? I wonder about the emission control warranty. And, for Eray, I ran across a statement that "the warranty covering the 2024 Corvette E-Ray hybrid system battery would not be voided if the car is sold in six months. The hybrid system battery warranty will remain valid for eight years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first) regardless if the car is resold in the six-month period outlined."

Probably a very good decision to skip that car and go to one that you know the warranty is good to go.

I don't understand why that Z06 warranty block is still in effect, you can now buy these cars for MSRP or less so there is no reason for a flipper to try to make a quick profit

There is a huge reason for GM to keep this policy in place. If you want a newer Z06 you have to buy it directly from them and not used. With sales declining and these cars piling up on their car lots they need to do everything they can to sell new cars. Sam
