It all kind of reminds me when manufacturers got rid of the vent windows in the 60s. My dad and uncles all whined about it believing it would come back. I too loved driving manuals and my previous Vettes all were, but after driving the DCT, you learn no man can outshift it. It is the most fun smoking some guy who thinks he's Don Garlits son and you walk him at the first shift. Most Ferraris don't have manuals anymore. It is called progress. I am guessing in my lifetime driverless cars will become common and I may miss the driving experience, but the goods that come from technology should outweigh the negatives. Did we really need electric windows? He'll the crank was easy and worked fine too....lol

A lot of things went or benefit from being electric for other reasons. The windows indexing for door sealing is one. That I can lower the windows from my fob is nice too.

Need to pay closer attention to the GS mules when in the wild. Should be able to tell pretty easily if they have a manual or not without even seeing inside.

Maybe an integrated electronic wet clutch or maybe no clutch with an electronic shifter that operates solenoid controlled gear changes. If not where would the clutch & shifter linkage be located? Just wondering how it would all work..

Because of customer demand Toyota added a manual trans option to the Supra in '23, expecting 25% would be a stick. Instead it was 47%

That number went up to 65% in '24....

So, 1700 manual Supras sold in 2024. Amazing. Toyota almost sold as many as Ferrari sold Roma's that year.

Just do not see a manual transmission coming back, but GM has done some unexpected things in the past. Not sure the number of buyers for a manual car would be there - it sure wasn’t in the last few generations.

As a business perspective GM made the right decision in axing the manual. Just like in other cars the manual is dead. It’s just the way it is. Time progresses and moves on.

You are making my point which is by gm killing off the manual for 8 years it has left a big pool of customer that would only buy a c8 with a manual, hence my comment. While they were only selling a quarter of c7s with the manual, if you take a big chunk of that group over an 8 year period you build up a sizeable demand.

At the very least it would be a 1 or 2 year boom for the platform before the group was satisfied

No you have proved MY POINT. C8 has already smashed C7 production WITHOUT a manual OR a GS.

Wow, didn't realize that C8 sales tanked so bad in 2025. I guess everyone who wants one got one by now, no real reason to trade up since its the same car with some minor interior changes. A new engine, GS and/or manual would produce a lot a sales. If 20% want a manual, that means there is pent up demand of close to 40 thousand cars....

I think it's all a pipe dream. There won't be a manual and it wouldn't be 20% of sales.

Will be a lot of sales. GS with new 6.6 eng and M6 will be very much in demand. The main reason why many of us stayed away from the C8 is the DCT.

As well as fewer people desiring a manual transmission, the choice previously has been between a torque converter automatic and a manual. Fewer people would option for the manual when a DCT is available.

I stayed away for 5 years, and finally gave in as all the other cars I wanted are DCT too so might as well play with a cheaper one and see how much I can deal. or hate it and have to wasp brands.... I have not swapped brands yet but I would buy a M6 C8 ha.

Yup, amazing Toyota would go to all the trouble for such a tiny number of customers...I give them credit....

Delete the excellent performing DCT and you merely have an "engaging" model that is the slowest in the lineup. The Eray should have been the GS all along and nobody would even be talking about a less powerful, lower performing RWD only wide body.

That didnt take long. Yes, people WOULD still be talking about it because there is a particular crowd that wants a widebody non-Z06 C8 that do NOT want an electrified front axle. That crowd would exist with or without the "Eray" moniker. Holy heck these threads always devolve to Eray nonsense.

The same crowd tends to want to "row gearz". They dont care if they are 3 tenths slower to 60 or whatever. And at least a manual trans would be serviceable unlike the damn DCT which GM clearly treats as a disposable part.

A manual trans wouldve tempted me back to the C8 platform despite the google OS bullshirt. If a GS launches DCT-only I am not interested. If a "slower widebody stingray" comes out with a manual GM can count me as a buyer.

IDGAF if it is slower than a Z51 stingray. It will have the look I want with the reliability and serviceability of a manual gearbox. And before the usual suspects chime in, it wont be a "poser" car because it wont have a fake Z06 badge on it. Sometimes people just like what they like cosmetically, performance be damned.

I. Will. Never. Buy. A. Hybrid. Not. Even. A. "Performance Hybrid".
