NAIAS moved dates!
Looks like the Mid Engine Corvette,Zora or whatever you want to call it may not make its debut until this October or even Longer...NEXT JUNE!

There are arguments both pro and con for moving. There's something more going on though that won't be corrected by a change of months. When you have six or more actual car companies opting out, it isn't because of the weather alone. I think a "better" month will help people go to the car show, but it won't necessarily help the show, or add back car mfrs that have left the show. My thought is they wanted to be first in the year to have a car show; they accomplished that but something else changed in the world of car introductions and shows, or went awry.

Well, most of the companies pulling out are European, and the Geneva auto show still exists. They have no reason to reveal a car in the states whenever they can reveal it in Geneva for the world to see. Detroit isn’t the best market for high end sports cars and luxury cars, so they probably don’t find an advantage to showing their cars there. The Europeans will likely stick to the New York and L.A. auto shows. Having the Detroit auto show in June, however, is prime time for American manufacturers. Most models switch production years in the fall, so revealing their products three month before production in their hometown seems convenient. By moving to June, there would be enough debuts and products from each manufacturer to justify having an auto show.

There is one problem with moving NAIAS with, as noted, most new models coming out late September/fall.
As de Nysschen noted last fall, we will be revealing vehicles earlier, with a much longer lead time between the reveal and start of production, for we need more time to properly fine tune a car’s aero without thick camo, make adjustments, then produce the customer ready car.
For this reason, the C7’s reveal was not at the April, 2013 New York Auto Show as the Corvette team decided that would have been way too late, too close to start of production — not giving them enough time final adjustments. Following that vein, the Stingray was revealed, as we all know, three months earlier, and between ithe C7’s reveal 1.13.13, as a result of extensive aero testing without thick camo, later without any camo, there were changes to the size of aero components for the Z-51. Similarly, the C7 Z06 was revealed in January at NAIAS, on 1.13.14 and again as a result of spring extensive testing, the size of the stage 1 and also the stage 2/stage 3 Z06’s spoiler was increased.
