As I said, Porsche and Ferrari don't have an "old fart" image, and young people aspire to own those cars. As those people gain wealth as they get older, they end up buyingt them. Chrome wheels contribute to the "old fart" image.
I suppose that is individual perception. I personally do not associate either group of cars with old fart image as you say. I do not like chrome wheels either but am neutral on them for other people. It does not change my image of the car. Carbon fiber on the other hand is something I associate with the poor fitting replacement hood on a modded our Honda fart can vtec type vehicle. It is classless.
I agree. The Corvette has an "old farts" image because the majority of new Corvettes are bought by us "old farts". This is backed up by the medium age of a new Corvette owner during the last 20 years that has gone up from 54 years of age to 60 years of age. The "old farts" are the ones that make the Corvette a profit making model for GM.
I suggest that those that are offended by us "old farts" buying/driving our Corvettes, that they should instead buy something other than a Corvette, if the "old farts" image is not getting them all the ***** they think they deserve.
I agree, Joe.
Here's the thing....I bought my first Corvette in 1998 (a C5 convertible), I was 41 (not an "old fart"). Now, I'm 61 (old fart) and on my 5th Corvette (2014 convertible) and I will more than likely buy a C8 convertible when they become available (probably 1st quarter 2020). Then I'll be approaching 63....should I grow up and buy something else so I'm not contributing to the "old farts buy Corvettes" deal?
In my case, I bought my first as a NON old fart and have been lucky enough to keep my health and continue to buy Corvettes. And I'm certain GM happily takes my money and doesn't care about my birth date.

most important thing is health... be well.... the cars are just a bonus...
No need to argue - like what you like and be proud of it...you're not going to change my mind and Im not going to change yours... Lets all go drive our cars on whatever wheels you've got!!!
I have black wheels, so I'm an old fart that acts like a young punk !
I just took off my black wheels (which I liked but didn't offer enough contrast) You can see one on the floor in the background... I put on chrome wheels and now she really pops... Black wheels or chrome wheels - no one is looking at a C7 saying its an "old farts" car...no one! It might not be a Ferrari or Lambo - but it doesn't cost as much as a small condo either.

Didn't start this thread to start a wheel color war just occurred to me chrome would look odd on C8 styling I am seeing so far - more I think about it ME cars dont really use chrome that much
I personally got sick of Chrome wheels, but I'm not a huge fan of black wheels either. (Because my Corvettes are always black, and I dislike black wheels with a black car.)
So I went with the Spectra Gray wheels on my C7Z, and couldn't be happier.

fwiw your wheels are my favorite choice as well.
that said if consumers want all black, or chrome or polished rims...put it on the option list.
the customer is always right when spending money on options...
we are not talking vinyl roofs...
offer all the wheel tyoes consumers might purchase.
hell id like to see a ten grand z51 ha dling package that included carbon fiber wheels...
if ford could offer a ten grand R option on the mustang gt 350 r that included heavy duty coolers, suspension and carbin fiber wheels so too can chevy...
im a cheap bastard but i might click off that box when ordering my c8
