Must of hit a nerve “when” it goes into production, its is the fastest production car 0 to 60 1.9 seconds and I belive its the model S is rather quick.
JUST SAYING.
Its OK I still love the Vette
Lets stick to the facts. Can you show me any proof of this 1.9 sec 0-60 in a production ready car? JUST SAYING.

LOL . . . yes, and the T-Bird was dropped very quickly as a two seater after 3 MYs. Hmmm . . . wonder why. Ford wasn't happy with the results and abandoned that market. GM persisted and the rest is history.
You're talking 61 YEARS AGO. Really, I mean really? If that's your definition of a successful 2-seat sports car, where has it been for all these years?
When Ford was working on the new 1955 Tbird, their ROI was based on 10,000 annual sales. With the sales numbers that averaged 17,722 annually for the 3 years the 2 seater was in production, Ford made money.
But, Ford was ahead of the game and made even more money on the 4 seater that replaced the 2 seater in 1958.
I am not sure that your comment is relevant. A Porsche is a Porsche and is expected to have a 4 or 6 cylinder boxer engine. That is part of Porsche's DNA.
My point is that I believe that the majority of Americans believe that a mid engine sports car should have a V-8 engine at a minimum. Especially when the car in question costs over $80K.
Besides, GOD told me that he/she doesn't like V-6s.
The post I responded to was referring to an NSX, not a Corvette. I agree with you on your point though - I would not want to see them put anything less than a V8 in it.

with Elon behind the numbers it will be slower, cost a lot more and hit showrooms 2 years late.
Honestly who cares? Electric cars are a joke when they start touting performance figures especial. How many of those amazing launches to 60 can this amazing car do before it cuts power or needs to sit and charge? Now ask the same question about a Corvette or any other normal car. Ya exactly. Tesla can come back to me when their car can do it all afternoon and then go charge after all day messing around and come back fully charged after five minutes and do it again. Oh wait charging takes how long? Right...... Tesla. Please. Stop.

Technically it can Charge to near full in about 20 minutes at a SuperCharger Station.
You Can Launch it a TON of times, gets even faster when Battery warms (at least my Model S can, I'm in Ludicrous 100% of the Time), Our Vettes use more Gas Launching too, so Refuel vs SuperCharge run...
The Roadster should have a 600 mile Battery Pack (would diminish some of course with a lead foot)
Of course there is no Exhaust Note, but it's a different kinds cool.
2.3 sec 0-60 is something else & if the Roadster hits the proposed 1.9....

The corvette runs out of gas just as a tesla needs charging. The change is coming even a AWD electric Corvette. Its OK they they will still be fun. By the way - Did the legal case on overheating finally get resolved?

Reason: Forgot to mention
Other sports car manufacturers are preparing electric models, and GM’s most recent announcements clearly indicate a corporate push toward electric and autonomous vehicles. I have no idea if GM actually plans an electric Corvette but... in 2015 GM did apply a U. S. trademark application for “Corvette E-Ray” and they have requested two extensions on that application, the latest was approved in August, 2018.
And today, GM has named Mark Reuss as President. The following from Reuters today:
“(Reuters) - General Motors Co said on Thursday that Mark Reuss would succeed Dan Ammann as president, effective immediately, as part of the automaker's ongoing shift to electric and self-driving vehicles in North America and China.
Reuss remains focused on rebuilding the Cadillac brand and streamlining GM's product development operations, while doubling the resources, mainly engineering hours, allocated to electric and self-driving vehicle programs in the next two years, the company reiterated.
GM has budgeted $8 billion for the development of electric and self-driving vehicles, with SoftBank Group and Honda Motor Co pledging to invest $5 billion in GM's Cruise self-driving unit....”

Honestly, I would love to see an all-electric version of the Corvette to compete against the coming new Tesla Roadster and be able to put up those types of numbers, but would also hope for the electric version to be produced along side a combustion version (perhaps hybrid to drive front wheels)...but, the more logical side of my brain is telling me that once they do finally go all-electric, they will be all-in with just the electric version. Times are a-changing for sure...
News Flash......From inside the GM proving grounds.....C8 will be AWD mid-engine will drive rear wheels, electric motors to drive front wheels. Hence the delay due to new electric drive technology.
unlikely in the first year, come on guys get your feet back on the ground... your thinking the C9
C7s handle great, I suspect an AWD C8 will “probably” handle very well. Flipping through the twisties chacing a 911 twin turbo AWD was quite and experience in a C7. Pretty sure an AWD C8 would be quite fun as well. Lets not get a head of our selves an AWD is years out. Im also pretty sure quite a few on this form are going ro flip out when its an AWD Electric Tesla eater!
For me its “don’t knock it until you try it”, I’m pretty sure no one has tried it!

completely agree., love the Tesla s, good choice I've only ridden in one and loved it, very interested in the roadster as a purchase also. there is no mutually exclusive decision in cars, someone may want 2 or 3 sports cars. in any case, full electric cars are coming at a heightened pace so embracing the tech is necessary.
to frame a question of interest in this community..."do you think the c8 me will be the LAST internal combustion Vette?"
