C8 electrical problem...

C8 electrical problem...
I dont know if this has already been said, but I've heard that the main electrical problem is due to fully electric opening/closing doors. Supposed to be too much for battery and electrical system. Anyone else heard this?

That makes no sense that the swinging doors is the cause of the electrical problem. Let’s suppose, just as a hypothetical, that it were true, then all GM would do, as they have with other “problem future options/enhancements” in the past, is to take them off the table for a while until they figured that specific item out, e.g., delay that swinging door option for a year or so, or not ever move that problem option forward.
GM certainly would not delay the most important Corvette development in a while, the ME, because of a swinging door option that a) we not once heard of before, and then only because we learned of in the last ten days because of Jag finding us a patent application, nor b) did we ever hear a swinging door being asked for by somewhat at a Corvette event, such as in the Q&A session after the Tadge/Harlan initial presentation.

And there is absolutely no garuntee that the electric doors were ever intended for use on the Corvette, as patents in the automotive field can be used across a broad spectrum of vehicles. In fact, I bet that the power opening doors will first be seen on a Cadillac concept car in Detroit, either an Escalade-like SUV or a long coupe.

Electric opening doors? Seriously? People can't manage to open a damned car door? It's a wonder mankind has survived to this point.
Let's just keep lopping gadgets and dodads into this rig, cuz, well we can.
I'm not buying it. Sounds even more absurd than a 170k starting price on the base model.

Just passing along what i heard, from a source with ties to gm. Idk if its true or not. Dont shoot the messenger! Me personally, dont see the added weight of powered doors being added to a sports car in the first place.

I'm starting to think the C8 is going to be overloaded with items I do not want and will add weight and cost to the car. A Boxster or Cayman may be my next car. Time will tell.

After several reported issues with owners of C6/C7's being 'trapped' in their cars due to dead batteries and not knowing about the manual release the last thing needed would be electric doors that could contain another set of problems. This technology, IMO, is not needed on the C8. The C8 may not be why GM has obtained the patent, which has been stated by others, and I hope that's the case.

Confirm, no. At this time it looks very doubtful but no official announcement from GM as to when or where the C8 will be revealed. Heck, they haven't even confirmed that the C8 even exists.

The electric door handles on the C6 and C7 also solved a problem that didn't exist so it is at least plausible that they would do something like electric doors.

I have read that the electrical attribute for the doors is a sensor that measures both wind pressure and proximity to a car parked next to it. Both are safety related and in the case of sensing the door of a car next to you a way to avoid denting it.
