I understand the nostalgia for the 63 design, but the entire car would need to be styled accordingly. I’m not sure this design... or what we know if it so far, supports a split rear window. Don’t see the advantage. I think the entire style would need to be more exotic. Maybe the c9 ?
God I hope not. Terrible idea from a visibility perspective. Zora hated the idea, and rightly so.
Folks' nostalgia is usually misplaced. Split window is an awful idea from the past and needs to be left there.
I drive vehicles for a living with no rear window at all. It was a problem that people blew way out of proportion. 99% of anything you need the rear mirror for can be accomplished via the side mirrors or turning around and checking your surroundings... as in backing up. Actually when I went for my license the first thing I was taught was never trust your mirrors.
Not being mean or anything, I'm just saying as long as you're aware it isn't much of a deal.
I totally agree and if you reread the words in my original post you reference I said exactly that. My purpose of that post was to express how wrong Zerv02 was in that same response.

Sorry if misconstrued.
I was agreeing with you and trying to support your post.
I agree the hint of blue screen is the car’s display. The ski slope wall of switches between driver and passenger appears anatomically clumsy and out of place. That entire console sucks.
I hope the screen is more integrated like on the C7.
Does anyone else hate this latest trend of having cars infotainment screens look like iPads clipped to the dash?
I don't find that look appealing at all. Reminds me of when people used to have their phones vent clipped to the car for directions...
I see what you mean. I’m still not totally happy with the Info screen on my ’17 Audi A 4 positioned so high up on the dash. But I am getting used to it. The 12” wide all digital Vitual Pilot screen seen between the steering wheel is really nice and operates separate from the Info Screen in Nav view and the gauge sizes can be small or large. I think this is the direction we will see with the ME C8 as suggested by that interior reveal. The big difference is that rather than stick up so high on the dash, it is position lower and more discrete. I do think however that they may have eliminated the C7 conceiled cubby compartment.

The ski slope is probably intended as a hand stabilizer. Something to keep your hand from jumping around while you’re trying to press a button while in motion.… Sure, shouldn’t do it but people do.
The screen should be fine so long as it is recessed enough to keep direct sunlight from bouncing off of it and directly into your eye.
I find so many designs lacking in this area making screens useless in certain lighting situations.
I haven't seen enough evidence to support a real argument that there is a center bar on the rear glass of the vehicle, thus creating a split window. That said, absent real news, we can play the speculation game and wander into the weeds.
1) We know there is a rear facing camera in the upper rear glass area of the hood cover. It would look odd to put a camera in the middle of the glass by itself. A bar running down the middle would provide you with an easy cover to hide any wiring and create a nice subtle housing for such a camera.
2) The overall design of the car thus far does not connect itself well with Corvettes of the past. The side scoop (unless bs) does not seem to fit the curve of the 58' to 62' design. Right now we are left with a vague resemblance to the C7 in the headlights and taillights. So, if they want to connect the car to the past, a split window is something that fans have wanted to see return for years. Given that visibility out of the rear glass will likely already be compromised due to the mid-engine design, why not go all in with a camera to see out the back and put in a split window for a bit of style. Could be the styling pizzazz that the car needs.
3) Glass is heavy. Chevy would be foolish to not make the hood see thru, so you have to find a way to keep the weight down while also making it so people can see their engine. A center carbon fiber strip would allow you to see the engine from the left and right while adding strenght and dropping weight in the middle of the hood.
So...it is entirely possible that we have a split window design coming and perhaps even logical.

It follows the flow of cell phone design - when the first came out they were big bricks & then year after year they got smaller. Now that trend has reversed & cell phones are getting bigger & bigger each year turning back into that oversized brick. These screens in cars just keep getting bigger & bigger adding more distraction to the driver. I got a kick out of the video of the kid in his new Tesla getting pulled over because of the TV sized screen in his dash. It's amazing how we were all able to drive for decades without huge info screens in/on our dashboards
