I think so. The convertibles we THINK we've seen look like they are going to be hard top convertibles ala Ferrari 458 & 488/McLaren 570/etc

I think so as well, you don't see many new soft top mid engined cars anymore.

Again, there is a convertible, it seems. Just not a canvas top convertible.

I don't care if it is a hard top, but the whole thing needs to come off. Not just the middle section over the seats.

Purely a guess on my part but I think it's going have the tall headrest/buttresses/roll hoops like 458/488 Spider.
I would think the top will operate like this:

Not only does my C8 have to be a vert, it also must be a stick—me thinks I have a long wait.....

For just this reason I'm in discussions with a dealer to build a 2019 Z06/3LZ/M7/Vert. If we can make the numbers work, it msy be here in time for the caravan.

The C8 convertible will be a hardtop retractable. The C8 coupe will be a targa just like the C7

A guy on C7 forum just announced his C7 Z06, exactly as what you are thinking about ordering.
I'm totally happy with my C7 Stingray convertible/3LT/M7/MSRC!
Heck, you got the right idea. Make sure you get the 3LZ!

That's the intent, Skid...

I so miss my original Z06/3LZ/M7/Vert; it was totaled at 1527 miles. My wife told me that every time I see a C7 vert on the road I whimper. With the imminent demise of the manual, this will be my last chance.

The 488 has rims like my C7 I am Ok with that type convertible. Wife had a roll over accident in a hard top convertible. That is what she wants in a drop top.

It certainly looks like that to me. I have never owned a coupe. Also, we vacation in our car so what is the trunk space going to be? Where is the trunk? With these questions in mind, I just traded my 2014 for a 2019 Grand Sport convertible. My last Corvette?

The C8 luggage capacity question is still up in the air.....

I think you did the right thing buying an iconic new 2019 C7, convertible. Now that it's all but certain that the C8 will have the foldable hardtop, that departs the world of ragtop convertibles. I'm sure glad that I decided to get a C7 convertible too!

I have had 4 Corvette coupes, as I always felt the roof line was messed up with verts. With C8 HTC the roof line is maintained and the convenience of the top can't be beat. The other issue that played big for me was with the HTC was with the top down you lose no luggage space. With the coupe top out, you lose most all of trunk, so if you travel you can't remove the top on coupe. The coupe does have a slightly bigger trunk though. Being in AZ, in 6 mos, I have driven with top down more already than the times I had roof out on my C7. Being able to drop the top at a traffic light is awesome. Wife looooves it.

In my case out of 5 Vettes, this HTC is the best setup. The downside, it is not cheap, so if you are on a budget, you may want to go coupe.

I couldn't decide which convertible I liked better. Soft top is such a "classic" convertible look...no guessing if its a convertible or not. The hard top is a benefit because its much easier to maintain and keep clean...

I love a convertible, but hate the ragtop look. Inevitably, the sun and UV beats the hell out of them and to me, they end up looking awful. I love the HTC and would have bought a coupe if the C8 came with a ragtop.

Never, ever, considered a ragtop convertible because I don't like the way they look. The HTC/Spyder look was a game changer and that's why I bought one. IMO, it just looks better and more exotic, especially with the top down.
