Some people just do not like change. In this case, it may be because they may no longer have the "latest and greatest" Corvette, or whatever reason. With every generation change, there will be haters. The thing is, once most of these people see the car in person, and or drive it, their opinions change. Pictures and videos do not do things justice. If you look back to when the C7 was unveiled, there were a lot of people that didn't like it, even spent days ranting away. Now look how many of these people like the C7, or even own one. The Corvette team has spent countless hours designing, engineering and testing the C8. Instead of wasting your time ranting and hating on the car when the C8 is revealed, save your energy and wait. Fortunately Chevy is giving many the opportunity to get a look at the C8 by shipping it around to a lot of dealers soon after the reveal. Just wait until you see the car in person before you make your final judgment. You don't want to be "that guy" that spent a month ranting away on the forum about how bad the C8 is and then a few months later we see a thread about you taking delivery of your new C8...
Your post won't do anything... the forum will be flooded with negative rants for a solid 2-3 weeks. I would like to believe that GM couldn't mess this up, but then again they brought this to market and quickly did a 180.

I too am surprised with how fast they were able to fix the hideous front end of the Camaro. It's still not great but it is a bit better.
Or maybe some of just like the front engine cars. The classic look and ease of modifications.
This isn’t like going from the C5 to C6 to C7. Not a heritage thing like round tail lights or flip up headlights. This is a fundamental change in the car. So yes some things might grow on us, but this car has almost nothing in common with the last 7 generations.
I’m not invested either way. I just sold my C6 and I’m unsure what my next purchase will be. I’ve owned both a C5/C6 and I just turned 40. I’m not a fan of mid engine cars or automatics of any kind in a sports car. I drive them to enjoy them. Not because of magazine tests or what anyone else thinks when they see me driving them. To be honest reading these forum posts make me want nothing to do with corvettes anymore. Either you drink the kool aid and jump on the bandwagon or you’re a hater stuck in the past. Maybe some of us just don’t like the direction the car is headed. I think we’ve earned the right to voice that displeasure by being loyal customers of cars with obvious teething issues and poor customer service.
Guys, I have been through this 4 previous times. Each time the new generation looks odd to me when introduced and each time it grows and grows to where I love it. I expect the same with the C8. The different proportions of a mid engine car may take a bit more getting used to but it will happen.
Secondly, my 2014 Z51 has been a wonderful car through all 71,000 miles so far. But it will soon become yesterday’s news. But not bad news and still much fun to drive. Hopefully as an “affordable” late model Corvette it will introduce someone new to the great world of Corvette!
And if that happens it means I will be driving a C8!!!

I've noticed a trend on this forum where it seems that a lot of people think that the dissenters just don't like the mid engine. I'm sure that's some of it, but there are also people who just think it's ugly (at least in renders).
I love the fact that they changed it to ME. I love ME cars (720S, F8, 488, Huracan Performante, etc). But the renders are just not good looking IMO. I hope that they are wrong and it looks great when they reveal it tonight.
ETA: I also couldn't care less about it not having round tail lights, or non pop-up headlights. I actually hate pop up headlights. I just want it to look good and nostalgia has absolutely nothing to do with it looking good IMO.

I purchased a late model Corvair, years back, I liked the look, where the engine was located didn’t really matter, still doesn’t. I will not purchase something that In my opinion is ugly. The C8 has those large side cooling inlets, designers seem to think these inlets enhance the look of the car. I did purchase a C7 convertible with a manual transmission in case the C8 doesn’t please my eye. We will soon see!

It's not like the C7 will disappear off the Earth after the reveal. You will still have a choice. I am looking forward to the change.

Why is it that when a new Vette comes out it always has to grow on people? There are plenty of cars that I like immediately from all angles (exterior and interior) the first time I see pics and/or video of them. That never seems to be the case with Vettes. It's always - just give it time, it will grow on you.

I have no problem with it becoming rear mid-engine. I've also been looking forward to it having a DCT. There were several renders that I loved as soon as I saw them but of course the C8 won't look like any of them. I just hope it looks great & for once my reaction isn't - MEH or maybe it will grow on me or hoping that the Z06 version will end up looking better. But if the past is anything to go by my reaction won't be any different than it was when previous Vette generations debuted.
