For what it is worth the dealer is Hendrick Chevrolet Shawnee Mission. Apparently they are one of the region's largest Corvette dealers.
I'm starting to wonder if it even makes sense to order at this point as this is such a high volume car.
You just got the wrong salesman.. The deposit right now is refundable until you commit to the optioned car you chose. Once you do that and put down a larger deposit it then becomes non refundable. The dealer won't be able to put your order in until Chevy releases prices and allocations. SO until you actually spec out a car and say.. "This is what I want", they have no right to say anything is not refundable....
My local dealer is a hendrick store too. Sales rep just told me they will get 19 allocations first pass. I'm #4! That means ordering in late September for a December delivery. Merry Christmas!

I don't think that works like that. Some dealers are getting up to 200 allocations, this one only got 19. You may be #4 in that dealership but you may be #2384 in line... Just a guess though but I doubt it's first come first serve on anything...

Huh? My local dealer has 75 C8 allocations for 2020 and 19 for the first order cycle. I'm #4 on their list. They told me to be ready to spec the car September for December delivery.
I'm also 294 at Criswell in MD in case local can't get the allocation, but it appears they have.
