I just got a call from my dealer and he said they will have build information next week and will be taking orders at that time. He also said that any deposits at that point forward will be nonrefundable.
I asked him if this means we will have all pricing information at that time and he said he did not know.
So obviously this makes me uncomfortable, and I’m thinking of pulling my deposit. For those folks who weren’t on the pre-order list for the C7, how many months after general availability were Corvettes able to be purchased?
I talked to several dealers today, and none of them said anything like that. All deposits are refundable until pricing is released at which point you can put down a bigger deposit to secure a formal order or get your money back.
Pricing comes out 8/15. Was also told there would be more information released about model updates and such over the next couple months.
Not a chance. Still building C7s until the end of september, then change over, then start production. Notice everything on the build site says early available early 2020?

The offical Press Release says "The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray goes into production at GM’s Bowling Green Assembly in late 2019. Additional pricing and packaging information will be shared closer to launch."

Sounds like horse ****... with Criswell and my local dealer your deposit is refundable until your spot comes up and you place your order.
This is 100% correct. Can't have a "deal" being made without a price and an order being submitted. Sounds like the dealer shenanigans is already on full blast.

On a side note. Personally I am waiting for the C8Z, to replace my C7Z. Not interested in the first year bugaboos of a new platform. Besides, the C8Z is rumored at 800HP.
Until then, I will just keep punishing the back tires of my car, and keeping the Discount Tire guys happy !

Today every dealer who signed up for either Corvette dealer or Signature Corvette dealer knows how many allocations they will receive for the first three months of production? They also know their estimate allocations for the next 9 months of production. I will also say that when the ordering starts pricing still won't be available.

That’s nuts... how can I commit to a car if I don’t know what it will cost?

That's crazy. You mean you will be able to tell a customer when they will get their car, and they can place their order, but still have no idea how much it will cost? No way I'd sign a nonrefundable purchase agreement without knowing the price, and as a dealer, no way I would order a customer specified options package without a down payment if it wasn't something I thought I could turn around easily if they backed out.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
